So I want to go to a CSU (SJSU) in the future, and I was wondering if I am able to contact a guidance counselor to help to a pathway into SJSU? If anyone has an information that will be great. Currently I will be a sophomore in high school and my grades so far my freshman year have been
1st quarter: 3.83
2nd quarter:4.00
3rd quarter:3.50
4th quarter:3.75
SJSU is pretty transparent about admission requirements.
You MUST pass (C or better) all the courses on the A-G matrix.

From there, they rank applicants by Eligibility Index - which combines your CSU GPA with your SAT or ACT
read more about it here:
http://www.csumentor.edu/planning/high_school/eligibility_index.asp
Unlike most CSUs, they vary the admission threshold significantly by major. The good news is, they post last year’s thresholds here:

Do you have a specific question beyond that?
Thanks for the help NCalRent but I don’t understand how they combine ACT or SAT scores
@NCalRent gave the Eligiblity index formula and CSU’s do Superscore, so they will take the highest ACT composite or highest SAT Math and SAT CR and apply it to the formula.
(CSU GPA x800) + (SAT Math + CR) which gives the SAT EI
(CSU GPA x200) + (ACT composite x10) which gives the ACT EI
So if you have a CSU GPA of 4.0 and SAT Math+CR of 1200, your EI would be 4400.
You need to calculate your CSU/UC GPA at the end of Junior year using your a-g classes from 10-11th grade only.
You get 8 semesters of honors points for UC approved Honors/AP/IB or DE courses taken during this time.

You can use this link to determine your HS’s a-g course list and which honors are UC approved.

@NCalRent also gave you the link for the SJSU thresholds by major. Calculate your EI and then compare your EI to your intended major thresholds. These thresholds will fluctuate from year to year depending upon on the competitiveness of the in-coming class.
