You have very good stats and have a very good shot at getting into Duke or Cornell. For a match school you might consider UC Santa Cruz.

Thanks a lot! I’ll take a look at all of those. Anyone else? By the way, my intended major is environmental studies/science or journalism.

bump, please!!

sophieann - here is a link showing the admission stats for Villanova.

Take a look at Dickinson in Carlisle PA

Ookayy, thank you, I will take a look. Hahah, my brother goes to Dickinson! I want to do my own thing, but thanks :]

Anyone else?

bump 10char

First, many school will discount your grades in 9th grade since you have a consistently upward trend and some school (like Stanford, for example) don’t include your grades from grade 9 in the GPA calculation.

Second, we need information on the kind of educational environment you excel in/are drawn to:

 1. school size: LACs, large publics, mid-sized private, etc…
 2. geographic preferences: urban/rural/suburban, what part of the country, driving distance from?, weather?
 3. predominant culture: jock, prep, quirky, intellectual, granola, artsy, activist, single-sex, religious, etc…
 4. deal-breakers?
5. Financial aid requirements?

There are many, many schools that would be delighted to have someone with your academics and ECs, so the real question is what kind of experience do you want for 4 years?

1) I’m pretty open, but I guess that I’d prefer smaller schools (maybe student body of 10,000 & under)
2) Living within an hour or so of a city would be nice, but I’m open to this as well as weather, although I LOVE the beach and sun.
3) I’m open to all except for single-sex and religious…not so much into jock and prep culture. I’d love to be surrounded by quirky, intellectual, artistic, activists.
4) I’m not so sure what would constitute as a deal-breaker… I suppose that the most important aspect of the school would be that it has a wonderful environmental studies/science and literature or journalism/communications departments.
5) It’d be great to have some financial aid. My dad is upper-middle class but I know that it’s tough for him to pay for 3 private educations.

Thanks so much :]

You said elsewhere that Yale is your dream - I think you should shoot for it!

hugs

Aww, thank you! hugs back I might just do that… but I can’t be unrealistic, which is why I’d love some help finding some awesome matches!

Anyone…? 10char

Check out New College in FL. It is the FL honors college on the beach in Sarasota. Student body is in general quirky, intellectual, and artistic.

Thanks, GTalum… I will check it outt.

It seems more like a safety than a match school… no?

Pulled this off the web site:

Average high school GPA of incoming freshmen: 3.91
Average SAT scores of incoming first-time freshmen: 1321; verbal - 678, math-632

Probably more of a safety but you’ll find like-minded students and you won’t be the only one with a greater than 2300 SAT.

I’m guessing that the 3.91 is weighted. Maybe I’m missing something, but why do you say that I won’t be the only one with a greater than 2300 SAT?

They give a generous NMF scholarship. One of the few LACs to do so.

Oh, okay. I actually wasn’t a NMF though :]

occidental college in los angeles? whitman college in washington? pitzer? reed?

i think you have a great shot at many schools. good luck with your applications!

i also second new college of florida for a safety. great honors college in florida with a quirky student body.
