Please if would like you the college confidential community to help me out by telling my if i still have a chance to get into my dream school and if i do/dont how to improve these chances.

Also please do not be afraid to be harsh, in fact i would rather everyone tell me i had a slight chance of getting in and for me to get in then for everyone to tell me i and a shoe in and for me to get cocky. All in all use your best judgement

SO whats my shoot 1-10 and what can i do to improve it?

bump plz help

Your GPA Is still a little low, but I think it may help some that you had one bad year rather than four OK years. Your other grades look great, though. I’d say the best you can do is really work on keeping your grades up. Your ECs all look fine, so GPA should be your focus. I think you have a decent shot, maybe a 5. If you can continue to pull your GPA up, your chances will really go up. Good luck!

I think you have a great chance. I have many friends who got into NYU Stern with much less than you have. One of my friends had absolutely nothing related to business on her application and still made it. You can definitely improve your gpa though. If you do that and do well on your other testing (SATs and the such), I would say you have a great chance of getting in.

thank you so basicly improve my GPA? Btw i got 2000 on my SATs
Math: 700
CR: 700
W:600

good enough?

I personally did not apply to NYU Stern or even just NYU, so I am just basing this off of my general knowledge of NYU and my friends’ NYU decisions. From what I have seen so far, NYU doesn’t seem that difficult to get into. I have a friend who applied to NYU and was admitted but was denied at Binghamton SUNY and Northeastern University (both less selective colleges in my opinion). (Just for reference, she had high 80s and around a 2000 SAT but she applied to NYU CAS not NYU Stern).
I believe that NYU Stern is much more competitive than just NYU CAS. I think you should seek to improve your gpa and SAT score. If not, you should look into NYU’s HEOP program. I believe it is for NY residents only though, but it is for those who are academically and economically challenged. (Low grades, poor). I have a friend who got into NYU Stern through HEOP. She had around a 90 average (not sure what that equates to on a 4.0 scale) and mid 1900s SAT. This might be a good option for you. I’m not sure how you apply to it though…but a quick google search will help.

if i throw in a regional leadership position does that make my chances any better? also i re-calculated my GPA Uw- its 3.5 W- 4.0 any chances? Senior year i will get 200hrs of community service also this junior year summer i am attending this prestigious camp; only 25 ppl get in and they pay for the costs of the experiment for you ( around 1000$)

Bump plz help

Hello, I am a Junior at Middle Creek High School, and am curious. Look, I have always wanted to go to New York University, it has been always my second choice, pretty much, well mostly ALL MY LIFE, since my first choice has been Columbia University!!! I had a great freshmen year, but I had a rough sophomore year, and did not end up with the grades I had planned, and wanted to achieve/excel with those grades and classes. During that year though, there were some family problems, which had interacted with my school work, and gave me a handful/plentiful to deal with, and my GAD/SAD (General Anxiety Disorder/Social Anxiety Disorder) kicked in badly!!! I was able to manage, overall, with a D, a 3.2 GPA weighted (so far!!), and then taking senior year 7 AP classes, 12 AP exams, a NATIONAL AP SCHOLAR, and maybe even, the State AP Scholar in NC, but idk 4 sure about that!! Oh, and I also forgot, because of the things happening at my old home, in MA, I ended up moving to NC, where my dad lives, and I am back to my old self with school, I got honor roll again w/ SPECTACULAR grades!!!

So, this is how my grades r on my transcript so far, and I will also put down the classes that I will be doing and self-studying for next year, and they are:

Year Levels

Freshman Yr

Course Grade Where Taken

Honors Algebra I B Agawam, MA

Sophomore Yr

Course Grade Where Taken
United States History B Agawam, MA
English II/10 C Agawam, MA
Honors Chorus A Agawam, MA
Honors Geometry (Hard teacher, and class, but very good teacher anyways, overall)
D Agawam, MA
Honors Biology C Agawam, MA
Physical Education B Agawam, MA
Spanish III/3 Honors B Agawam, MA

Junior Yr

Course Grade Where Taken
Career Exploration/Management A Agawam, MA
Algebra 2 -3rd term/quarter I received an A- Apex, NC (Middle Creek High)
Foods I-Fundamentals -3rd term/quarter I received an A- Apex, NC
Honors Chemistry -3rd term/quarter I received a B- Apex, NC
Honors English III/3 -3rd term/quarter I received an A- Apex, NC

Senior Yr
English Course
AP English IV/4 Literature and Composition (Class at school)

Mathematics Courses
<pre-calculus honors=“” credit=“” in=“” 2011=“” summer=“” course=“” -=“” dual=“” enrollment=“”>
AP Calculus AB (Class at school)
AP Calculus BC (Class at school)
AP Statistics (Class at school)</pre-calculus>

Science Courses
AP Environmental Science (Class at school)
AP Biology (Self-studying, since my dad taught this class, and friends are taking it (Review Book(s)))

Social Studies/History Courses
AP United States History (Class at school)
AP European History (Might or might not take class at school, if not self-studying then, with friends, teachers, etc. (Review Book(s)))
AP World History (Self-studying, and reason doing this is bcuz I got As and Bs through all my World History classes, and I am minoring in history (Review Book(s)))

Foreign Language Courses
AP Spanish Language (Class at school)
AP Spanish Literature (Self-studying, since I talk this language, and am like a native speaker (Cuban), which is a bonus, and family, teachers, etc. will help me review (Review Book(s)))

Elective(s) Courses
AP Psychology (Self-studying, and I have heard it is the easiest exam, but not only that, I have friends, family, teachers, etc. (Review Book(s)))
AP United States Government & Politics (same reason as other AP classes I am self-studying for, but mostly look at the AP World History parentheses, pretty much the same reason, in that case)
Introduction to College Math Honors (not really, but only if I don’t get an AP class that I chose, so this will b an alternate)
Anatomy & Physiology Honors (not really, and same reason Intro to College Math Honors)
Theatre Arts 1 and 2 (duh, one huge reason y I want to go into Columbia 1st, and then next NYU, and 1 of my majors!!)
Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, Excel (my dad picked this elective course, so I can type faster!)

Now, you make think that I am crazy, and will have no life, which may be true, but I don’t mind school work, or homework, I don’t like it, but if I have to do it, I don’t mind doing it then!!! Also, my GPA will go up higher, the AP exams cost WAY less than these courses in college!! I took the SATs today, since I am a junior of course, so it would make sense to take the SATs for a junior in the spring!!! Lastly, I am double majoring in Theatre/Performing Arts (Drama/Theatre Arts/Musical Theatre) and Teaching (anything except English, but don’t know wt I want to teach exactly, and if that is the case, in a school or college, since this is kind of my back-up plan from the other major)

Please reply with any comments, questions, and concerns you may have!! Ask anything curious that you do not understand, and thank you so much for reading this, and for your input, bcuz every little opinion and response counts!! Thank you!! A hopeful acceptant to Columbia University or New York University

Listen guys. Worst comes to worst, do reallly well freshman year of any college while staying active and you’ll get a second chance. I had a meager 3.3 Uw GPa in high school, decent ec’s and terrible SAT’s. Did well my freshman year (3.76 GPA) and got accepted into NYU. Its not the end of the world. Undergrade education is all basically the same. Just chill out.
