so then if oss students are treated the same as iss, then why is there a big difference in numbers at psu. its like 70iss to 30oss?

If they are attending a state school students will more often than not attend one of their own state universities. One big reason is the difference in tuition. A kid from Ohio pays $8679 in tuition and fees to attend Ohio State, while a kid from PA would pay $21,918 to attend OSU. Likewise, Penn State tuition is $13,706 for PA residents, but would cost the kid from Ohio $24,940. Both schools have good programs and great school spirit, so the tuition difference is a compelling reason for many to stay in state. Also, students often like to stay within a few hours of their hometown. Many times their parents and other family members (and HS friends) have attended the same state school. Most state schools have >90% of their students from in-state: Penn State's number of OOS students is as high as it is because some neighboring states lack a flagship university like PSU.

oh ok i understand, hopefully ill get into psu and not have to worry about all this anymore and all the stress will go away

I hope you do, too. Good luck!

bump....anyone else?

oops....someone already posted the info I was posting.

Are the grades on this chart weighted or unweighted?

It says they are weighted based on a 4.0 scale
