Please help me transfer!!

hi guys, i was just wondering what my chances are at transferring to rice. i'm currently at emory (#18 on usnews), and wants to transfer back to my home state texas, and rice seems like a logical choice (#17 on usnews).

i'm a a junior applicant, but i'm applying for spring semester. i also have a question whether rice would consider me as an applicant at all since i'd have 5 semesters at emory before transferring (granted i get accepted first!). i'm willing to give up academic credits, but would they accept that? and also, do i get to choose what class i'd want to drop? :D

i have currently a 3.4 gpa, and the rice web site says applicants should have a 3.2+ gpa. my first semester i kinda blew off and had a 2.7 gpa on not very challenging courses, but second and third semester shaped up and had 3.6 and 3.9 respectively. also did a semester abroad in australia and made a 3.4 (given that A's and A-'s were told as impossible)

please let me knoww! i appreciate all the help!

I would contact Rice. Tell them your situation and see what options exist.

I know that there are some limits on how many of your hours towards graduation, how many of your hours towards your major, and how many of your upper level classes you can transfer in. I've never heard of anyone graduating from Rice with less than 4 semesters actually at Rice, but it might be possible. You might have to spend an extra semester or take a really heavy courseload though.
I second the idea of contacting the Rice admissions office.
