I am a freshman international student. But I’ve got a problem. There is IB program in our school and I’m not in it.(i can enter it if i want but my parents don’t want it) would not entering to IB program makes it harder for me to getting into colleges like harvard,mit?

The most selective schools seek candidates who have the maximum rigor in their high school schedules. In plain English this means that students who are in the full IB diploma program at your school are maximizing rigor. Those not in the program are not and are at a disadvantage. There might be an AP track at your school. If you reach the AP level in your five core subject, math, English, social studies, foreign language, and science, you are also maximizing rigor. However, at a school that offers an IB program, I’m betting that the IB curriculum is the one the most competitive students take.
