Hey everyone, so I'm searching for housing off campus in west campus and north campus areas for August 2011-spring 2012. The apartments in west campus (e.g. quarters, the block, jefferson 26...etc) had mostly very bad reviews, so I would really appreciate it if anyone from UT with the experience to give some recommendations on good apartments near UT with a monthly price below $750. This is really important as I'm running out of time and the apartments are being filled very fast.
Cheers,

I’m in the exact same boat!! Apartments are either really cheap and bad or really expensive. (From what I’ve looked at) I’m planning on living in an apartment of walking distance to the campus and am trying really hard to find a place too :/

My son is living in the Taos cooperative. Right across campus.

Take a deep breath. There are plenty of places to live around campus, don’t worry that they’re filling up too quickly!
If you have one roommate in mind, it’s a lot easier than if you’re trying to find a 2+ bedroom apartment. My roommate and I found a 2/2 condo on 28th and Nueces on July 30th last year. Signed the lease a week later (and we got a really good deal!). Realtors get desperate during this time because they’re trying to fill their places.
You should also get an agent to look for you. You don’t pay them; they get commission from the apartment complex you sign with.
Hope this helps!

I found a 2 bedroom duplex for $700 in west campus, might have been luck, but check this website. [Barkley Houses](http://www.barkleyhouses.com/)
