I'm using the Collegeboard Blue Book that was published in 2004. It has 5 practice tests and on the cover it says "Good for the New SAT 2005 and beyond." I looked in it and the only difference that is visible is that the writting essay is on a scale of 6 rather than 12. Is there any difference in the level of difficulty between the tests in the 2004 books as compared to the newer version? Are these tests outdated and therefore not valid to today's test? Any help is extremely appreciated.

are these tests the same as those in the blue book?

I would opt for using the New Blue Book. Even if there are only subtle differences between it and the new one, it may hurt your score greatly if you rely solely on the outdated version. Thus, the newest version is definitely worth the money imo

Are you sure it only has 5? I thought the “Official Study Guide for the SAT” has 8 tests in it. I don’t even know of a BB version with only 5 tests. Anyways, if it is the 8 test version, you don’t need to buy the new BB. I mean they will only have “3 new recently administered tests” in the new BB. Most likely, the other 7 tests in the new BB will be recycled from the old BB. But if you have a version with only 5 practice tests, it might be worth upgrading because that is even older than the current BB that is out.

Lol, no I just looked at it and it says 8. That’s good to hear. I don’t think I will be purchasing a new one.

^Your book is identical to the current one (dated 2006), as far as all the practice test materials.

I would definitely take a look at the next version coming out in a few weeks; it will have three actual exams in it, very valuable for practice.
