Hey,
So everyone tells me that I have to send in the Cornell Freshman- Financial Aid Application. However, it says it wants a signed copies of my parents W2's and other tax forms along with this application. I thought that you only have to send in your tax information to the collegeboard and was sent my some service. Can anyone shed some light? Thanks.

Cornell, and many other universities that grant financial aid, require your tax forms, w2s, and schedules. At first my parents were hesitant in giving out this information, but after some research done, I was at ease. Do not worry, just send in exactly what your university requires and you will be fine. They have too much at stake to want a lawsuit so you're safe =P

It's not that I am afraid of identity theft- I just didn't think I had to send in my parents' tax forms to each school individually, i thought you send it to the collegeboard and the collegeboard sends it to the schools through a service. Can someone please clarify if I am mistaken? It would save me a lot of time and confusion, thank you.

the system is IDOC. Does cornell use IDOC as well as wants us to send in our tax info or just one or the other?

You have to personally send in all the forms that Cornell asks for yourself. The only exception is the CSS, which you send through college board. Does this help? Example: I mailed in my tax returns, schedules, and W2s personally to Cornell. I also mailed the Freshman Financial Aid application directly to Cornell. College board however, mailed them my CSS Profile after I instructed them to.

Oh, thats what I feared, thanks herostar. I wish Cornell was like other schools where IDOC takes care of it but oh well...
