I’m going to be sending in my application to my top choice school soon. The problem is that I had an interview for this school a month or so ago, but it didn’t go so well. I mean, it wasn’t terrible, but it wasn’t memorable at all. I meant to write a thank you note afterwards, but I didn’t. The person interviewing me had said she was going to email me some information about a question that I asked about the school that she didn’t know much about. As a result, I didn’t have much to say about the interview yet, and I meant to reply to that email she was going to send me with my thank you letter. But she never sent it. This was bad news for two reasons. It meant my interview wasn’t memorable, and that I never sent her a thank you. By the time I realized she wasn’t going to be emailing me at all, it was too late to send the thank you letter, and it would’ve seemed like I was a slacker/procrastinator if I did send it so late. Also, I should mention that my interviewer is one of the admissions counselors at the college (it wasn’t an alumni interview.)
So, I’ve obviously been worried about this for a while, and now that the time is coming for me to send in my application, I’m wondering if it would be appropriate to email this admissions officer about having sent in my application and to thank her. I am fully aware that admissions officers are very busy, especially at this time, so I am unsure if this is the right thing to do. Would it just be an annoyance to get a random email from me about sending in my application? Or is this a good opportunity to get a thank you in?
I really appreciate all input.
