Please help! SUNY New Paltz or Purchase?

I'm currently in the process of applying for college.
Which one is the better school? The campus, student life, academics, programs, towns, etc. Any information would be greatly appreciated!!
I plan to study film, media, or communications.
My heart is really set on communications though.

[Academic Programs - Majors & Minors at a Glance](<a href=“Search results for • Purchase College”>Academics • Purchase College)
^It appears that SUNY Purchase does not offer a traditional Communications Major

http://www.newpaltz.edu/comm_media/</a>
^SUNY New Paltz
“The Department of Communication and Media is one of the largest academic departments on campus, with more than 500 majors in Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, and Electronic Media Production or Management.”

New Paltz has a strong Communications and Media major but no film major. I think NP offers a better overall college experience.

If you want Film, consider SUNY Purchase.

If you want Communications, consider SUNY New Paltz.

Be sure to visit both campuses to get a feel for them. They are different.

It seems to me that you’re looking into reporting, which New Paltz is great for. If you want to do more creative films, then Purchase has a fantastic program for that. Here’s the lowdown from a person who loves and is applying to both schools: Purchase has a great, highly underrated liberal arts program, but it’s known for its conservatory. The conservatory is highly competitive place for visual and performing artists and creative film makers. New Paltz is a general liberal arts college. It’s much harder to get into New Paltz than the Purchase liberal arts program. Still, New Paltz is a great place for people who want to study the arts at a liberal arts level. To sum up, if you want to report for CNN, go to New Paltz. If you want to write and direct feature films, go to Purchase, but only if you are willing to try out for their conservatory. Hope this helps ad good luck!

Thanks so much to everyone that answered
