Hi, the 1st prompt for the College of Arts & Science is: What work of art, music, science, mathematics, or literature has surprised, unsettled, or challenged you, and in what way?
Is my topic supposed to be geared toward my intended major/concentration? For example, if I want to study science, should I pick a work of science?
Because I declared interests in biology, but I want to write about a memoir I read. Is that ok?
I have doubts because the prompts for the more specific schools are directly related to that concentration. For example, the school of nursing asks for an experience that led to the student's interest in nursing.
Thank you!

Don’t over think this. Write about what honestly meant the most to you. That will be the essay that is most true to who you are. It doesn’t have to correlate with your intended major. Believe me, many SEAS students wish they could have had the CLAS prompt which has so much more flexibility.

i wrote mine about a rather controversial poem we read in my english class even though im an intended bio major. i just wrote it because it came easily and genuinely to me
