okay I'm a freshman in highschool and extremely nervous,

I've had a straight A average all my life, and upon entering high school I knew I had to keep that up in order to qualify for a good college...
Up untill my final quarter I had been doing just fine, an A+ to A- average in every quarter.
However in the subject I find most difficult i found my downfall.... I got a 74 in Mathematics A/B for the final quarter!!
Now besides being crushed about the grade itself, i'm worried about three years from now when I apply to colleges!

Will this bad grade force me to apply to a community college? Will it kill my chances of ever getting into a good school?

This was an "advanced" mathematics course, normally sophomores take it... I'm in AP global history, and those are the only advanced courses offered at my school...
I don't plan on entering a field involved with extreme Math, I was thinking somewhere along the lines of Journalism or Liberal Arts... Will this math grade kill my chances?

RELAX!!!! Us Seniors have real problems. you'll find out what colleges and stuff you are interested in half way through sophmore yr...when you look at your grades.

Yeah, don't sweat it kid...you should be fine. Ivys arent in your future but some okay colleges and big universities are. Keep up the good work (well, at least the work you did for the first 3 quarters) and maybe, just maybe you have a slight chance at making it into a college

You're really freaking out WAYYYYY too much. First of all math scores in general are not going to be as important to colleges if you plan on being a writer/journalist etc. so calm down. Also if you are having that much trouble with them then drop down to a lower course! If you aren't a math person there is no reason to be taking an upper level math course that is clearly too advanced for you. You're only hurting your GPA by getting a weak score. If you get into a class at your grade level adn get high marks the colleges will look fine on that and just figure you were challenging yourself your first year. Important thing take good classes, get A's, but have FUN in high school and don't stress out so much! I just graduated from American University with my degree in Broadcast journalism and I've interned at CNN etc and have a GREAT job now. So all is not lost if you don't get into an Ivy either. Just a hint if you want to do journalism it doesn't matter WHERE you go to school though obviously aim for the best one. It's all about connections and being a great writer!

Siena College is fairly easy to gain acceptance to. If they give merit scholarships, you even may be in line for one despite your "C." I strongly suggest that instead of asking virtual strangers for advice that you look on Siena's web pages and find out what the stats for their freshmen class are. You also probably can learn that info in many college guides such as the one by U.S. News.
