Hi I am a sophomore in high school and I really want to start a club. I was thinking something to do with volunteering or raising money for an organization. We already have Key and Interact club which both have to do volunteering so I need an interesting new idea that would sperate me from them. I was thinking poker like people could pay poker and all the money would go to a foundation but then I realized that that's probably not legal. Also I've been watching this show called gossip girl which is where this anonymous blogger posts gossip about the high class people living in NYC now of course we wouldn't post gossip but instead school news? But people at our school already tried to do a newspaper and it didn't work so if any of you have an idea on how to make that gossip girl idea work that would be great. Another thing I was thinking is "The A Team" if anyone's seen Pretty Little Liars they would know what I'm talking about but basically it would be where the people in the club (A team) would go and leave nice messages for people signed "-A" but I know that's really LAME so if anybody has an idea on how to not make that lame that would be great. Also something with videos like filming things for the school news or making just short videos would be totally cool but the problem is that I myself don't know how to do that stuff on the computer and I don't have the special programs to learn. Anyways if any of you guys have ANY idea I would really appreciate it, thanks

Why do you want to start a club? Because it looks good for college?

Yea of course but not just that, I don’t wanna leave high school just not making a difference or not doing something I was really proud of. I don’t wanna look back and be like “wow I didn’t do anything special in high school”

Do something you are passionate about. If you are starting something for the sake of starting it, nothing you leave with will be extraordinary. Think about something your school needs-- something that you or a friend has remarked on at one point. Or, join an existing club that you think is awesome (like Key or Interact) and work hard to make that club substantively better. If it’s going to be something special, it has to be something that you are excited about and truly believe in-- and that’s not coming from strangers on the internet.

wow just asking for some cool ideas -.-

I agree with the other poster, it really depends on what you’re passionate about. If you hate stress and you see many other students stressed about schoolwork, then you can start an Anti-Stress Club that teaches about time management skills and provides anti-stress products such as bubble wrap. You can also show them funny/positive videos that take their mind off of school and provide them with tranquility to ease their mind.
