So my teacher sent a letter of rec to uiuc even though I specifically told him/emailed him not to. He said he thought he sent it to uic which really annoys me. I don't know what he was thinking, and now I am worried it will affect me negatively. What do you guys think? This is what is written on uiuc's website "they strongly discourage students sending it and any letter will be shredded"
Really need some insight on this!

It’s not your fault. I highly doubt it will impact you negatively.

Will not impact at all. To make yourself feel better call admissions, tell them what happened and don’t give your name. My D sent her grades accidentally before admitted!! She called and they said they just shred them and more than likely won’t even be part of your application!! My D got into UIUC and resent her grades later.

@glasssculpture thank you! By the way, did your daughter apply to their business program??

No, LAS. She met some engineers and business students. Yeah some have ACTs of 35-36! She met one business person with a 29 ACT and a few students in education with 25-26. One engineer with a 28. She has a 3.5 UW and a 30 ACT and not many EA. She did take a semester off and volunteer and travel to various countries and used that experience in her essay.

So helpful, thank you
