Please Help

Hey guys I just finished my junior year. For the last semester of my junior year I finished with
AP Bio: 97; AP Spanish: 90; AP Calc BC: 94; Adv. Chorus: 94 Adv. English: 92 Adv. US History: 92

My mom freaked out on me about those grades and said that now my options of getting into any good school are completely gone.

Based on my school GPA system of (A is 4.0 B+ is 3.7 B is 3.3 and B- is 3.0) I have a 3.9 UW GPA.
My school also gives weight to advanced and AP courses but in a weird way. It gives an extra .02 for every semester of an advanced or AP course and adds that to my UW GPA. So far I have taken 18 semesters of advanced or AP courses so my weighted GPA is 4.26

So far I have a 34 from one sitting on my ACT and I am taking the SAT this august
I have only a 750 MAT II and I recently took the SAT Bio subject test

I am not going to go into the whole thing about all my ECs and whether i have a chance at schools or not.

I am going to be honest; I am not a hard worker and my parents know this. They don’t want to pay for me to go to a mediocre or even good school. They said if I magically get into a top 20 school they will pay for me to attend, but if not, I need to get merit scholarships to go to college or go to my state school which is the University of New Mexico.

Please just give honest feedback of whether I have a good chance at getting merit scholarships based on those stats alone. If EC’s and other things factor into the decision please comment and I will write my EC’s and community service stuff down.

Thank you. I am just feeling a little depressed right now

With an unweighted GPA of 3.9 and a 34 on the ACT, you can get merit aid… if you do your research and apply wisely. If you don’t get into a top 20 school how much will your parents pay? That will determine how much merit you need.

Your mom has kind of… exaggerated… things. A 3.9 UW is viewed as a great GPA at top colleges. Your ACT score is great as well. I’m not really sure what she’s upset about, you have the stats for Harvard, Stanford, the whole nine yards.
