<p>If you are relying on a post mark, be sure to check what hour the local post office closes on Saturday -- and plan to get there comfortably before that time. I don't think that any post offices are open on Sunday or on New Year's Day, but there may be main offices in the biggest cities that are.</p>
<p>If all else fails, check the nearest airport. There is usually a 24 hr/ 365 day post office there.</p>
