Please Help!!

I want to go to the University of Texas (at Austin) really bad, but my stats are definately not spectacular. I am a National Achievement Recognized Scholar, with an 1190 on the SAT (620v, 570m). I got a 22 on the ACT and I'm 81/432. What do ya'll think? Do you think my chances would be boosted with lots of extra-curriculars? I heard they're doing affirmative action again this year. Please answer!
Thanks!!

yeah i really dont know, i do know that 10000000 people have told me that i have no chance, and i got a 1230 and 3.65 gpa. but no one really knows.

No chance. Out of state, impossible. Your class rank really has to be in top 10% and SAT just has to be much higher. Sorry. Austin looks more at stats than EC

lolololololk thats not true at all. you'll see, after the letters are sent, more and more kids with 1100s and 1200s get in. every year same sh it "no chance, no chance" and then almost everyone ends up getting in. and most of us that really NEED to get in, have wanted to go to austin our entire lives and thousands of people with nothing to do all day (top 10%ers) get in and go there cause it's "the cool thing to do". they don't even get it.

"The cool thing to do." - What?

I see a lot of sentence fragments, it really takes away the passion that I see you tried to put into that post.

I'm stating the facts. Most people accepted are from top 10% of their class, and in-state. It is much harder to get in out of state. Not to mention that Texas at Austin is stats driven. I guess I will see after the letters are sent, tell me if you're in or not.

Oh...and honestly, I doubt that "more and more kids with 1100s and 1200s" are getting in each year. In fact, if you hadn't been stoned for the past four years, colleges (from what I have heard...) are getting more competitive. Anyone else hear something like that? Every little score and GPA tenth is becoming more and more of an admissions factor. They need some way to separate the applicants in the immense wave of applications.

fender, are you in state? I am, I'm from Mesquite.

oh really lolok? i had no clue?! im just saying that its stupid to say that you HAVE to be in the top 10%. because it's not true at all. but what do i know right? its not like my brother, sister, and atleast 15 of my friends have been accepted with less.and its not like i live in texas or anything right? but no i totally see how you have the right to call me a stoner just for correcting you. dumb as s

fender, i totally agree

But does anyone else have an opinion?

well, i think you have a chance. Retake the sat, nad your chances will improve i'm sure. However, as for ecs, I think they matter more at say, hypsm. at u of texas and such, they are more stats driven. But, hey, at least your stats are better than mine.
