My son has just accepted UC's offer for enrollment in DAAP architecture for Fall 2010. (Yay!!) As a non-resident of Ohio, my expectation had been that we would be paying non-resident tuition. However, I have recently learned from DAAP-supplied information that he MIGHT become eligible for in-state tuition rates starting in his junior year if he completes his first co-op in Ohio. This would satisfy two important requirements that he have been a Ohio resident for the preceding 12 months and have income in Ohio.

One of the biggest remaining hurdles appears to be the support issue. He will need and will be receiving financial support from us, his parents. The way I read it, that's a deal breaker that will cause him to be classified as out of state. I know there are also many other hurdles and would love to hear the from parents who have successfully got their out of state students treated as in-state by UC. Thanks.
