American-accepted

Is TCNJ that hard to get into?

accepted maybe??? I dont think so. More like definitely accepted. You're in-state, that is your safety school. Also....
Fordham - Accepted
George Washington - Accepted/waitlisted
American - Accepted
Catholic - Accepted
Notre Dame - Rejected

Does it make a difference when applying to TCNJ that I am coming from a Catholic School? Or do I have the same chances as someone who comes from a public hs?

Any other colleges that I should look at? Thanks

TCNJ is now rated a most comptetive school. Average sat score is 1305. It has become more difficult to get in every year. I think it might even be easier oos, although I don't know and have no evidence of that, but there is little geographical diversity. 95% of students are from instate. It has a reputation as a public ivy- you can think of that any way that you like.

I would not think TCNJ would care if you came from a public or private school. They should be familiar with your school and know the high school's profile.

What about Rutgers? Should I apply there. I am trying to get a list together. Thanks.

I think that you have a good selection of schools. I would also look into some liberal arts colleges. How about the University of Mary Washington in Va. as one suggestion?

I have never heard of Mary Washington. Is it a good school? How hard is it to get in?

I think you're overqualified for all of those schools.

Overqualified?! For which schools? Def. not Notre Dame.

Any other schools? What about Villanova or University of Chicago?

I am also looking into Loyola Maryland.

It is a good liberal arts school. It is a Va. state school and the tuition is reasonable. It is supposed to have a beautiful campus, although I have never visited. The sat scores mid-range are:
580-670v 560-640m

The verbal sat scores are similar to TCNJ and math scores are a little lower than TCNJ.

I already know what my dad would say to going to VA. "Why go to another state's school, when you can go to good ones in NJ." lol I will ask though...

You have a good chance at Villanova, and Loyola Maryland. U of Chicago is a big reach.

U of Mary Washington I think is a better education than everywhere in NJ other than TCNJ. It offers small class sizes and a beautiful campus. I would agree with your father if you get into TCNJ.

Any colleges I can attend that will give me money?! lol That is the problem with GWU, it is too expensive!

GW is too expensive in my opinion. You may get $ if you get the equivelant of 1300 on the old sat ... I do not know if they will look at writing for merit aid next year. You have the gpa for $.

Having realistic state schools that you would be happy to attend is a good idea in case you do not get $. You have a couple of safeties but I do not know how they are on merit aid. I think Catholic schools tend to be more generous though.

You have a nice list that is appropriate to your creds. Notre Dame is a reach as you know. I have to agree with northeastmom that TCNJ is not a lock, but it is an appropriate reach. As to RU, you need to ask yourself what kind of campus experience are you looking for. Rutgers is a large research university and offers all the pros and cons that go with that. I'm a grad and enjoyed going to Rutgers College very much. With your class rank, application-wise Rutgers is a strong match (not quite a safety , unless you can pull your SATs into the 1350 range).
