Please Review Course Rigor

Could someone take a look at my senior year course rigor and let me know how it might appear to an admissions officer? I’d greatly appreciate it.
*I have block scheduling, which means eight classes a year (four per semester), so my options are limited. (APs are year round)

AP ART (x2)*
AP CALC BC (x2)
AP CHEM (x2)
DE English
DE Psychology

  • I understand that AP Art might not seem like an ideal course on my transcript, but art is something I am very passionate about, and it's a course I worked hard during lunches every day to get into because I had no prior fine arts classes in or outside of school. I'm hoping it'll indicate individuality rather than "slacking" attitude to the admissions officers. Also, I am required to take a fine arts elective which I have yet to do, so the only other option would be DE Studio Art which I do not know if I could get into... but I don't know if DE is favored over AP. Regardless, I appreciate relentless honesty because it's what I need at this point.

Classes an admissions officer might note that the course was offered in my school yet didn’t take (considering my prospective career path):
Honors Anatomy
Honors Athletic Training

I also plan to take online courses, however, they aren’t credited by my school or guided by a teacher or anyone other than me so at most it might just show my interest and dedication to the subject but has no verifiable proof.

Criticisms or ideas are welcomed.

It’s 100% fine, as long as you’ve taken some history courses (so that DE psychology would be an advanced social science elective) and have reached level 4 of a foreign language.

@MYOS1634 I have taken history courses, and I have only reached level three of a foreign language. Will not have space for a fourth year, but I will continue to study the subject outside of school (However, it will not be awarded or credited in any official capacity)

If you can take the subject test you’ll be good for very selective colleges. Other colleges will be fine with level 3.
So, this is a very strong schedule.

@MYOS1634 I appreciate that insight. I’ll look into testing for Spanish. I apologize; I understand you might not konw this, but do you think Spanish III and some preparation outside of class will be enough preparation by June? Or should I look into testing in fall.

Depends how good you are at it and whether you finish school in May or June.

And this really only matters to the tippy top colleges - HYPS and the like. For the vast majority of colleges, Spanish 3 is fine, and there is no indication the OP is targeting that high. Even if s/he is, the schedule will be viewed in context of the school’s schedules and offerings.

I think the schedule is solid as is. Good luck.
