SAT score is a bit low and AP scores are low especially if you want to do CS. This is rude but honest, you are very much a generic over achieving asian guy Which means there’s a lot of you guys out there. Your ECs make me wonder if you have interests outside of boosting your chances in getting in. Hope your essays show a cooler side of you.

Concerning your chances of getting in, if you raised the SAT score a bit your ECs and grades wouldn’t stop you from getting in. It’s just standing out that will be hard.

Well your chances look okay, but not an automatic rejection. You definitely have a chance. It would be much better to send the ACT where you would be in about the mid 50%. Nothing really stands out on your application, but it is pretty solid, so good luck!

The Columbia website says “The middle 50% of admitted students scored between
2160 and 2330 on the Math, Critical Reading, and Writing sections of the SAT.”

I’m not sure but I would think my SAT and ACT scores are very similar.

Your SAT score is amazing!!! I really don’t see anything wrong with it… From your application it is clear that you have really developed a focus on your major throughout high school and you have strong leadership positions and awards. I say you have high chances.

@LtDani That is honestly relieving to hear. I also was unsure why a 2250 was low, but I am definitely open to other peoples’ thoughts. Thanks a lot!

As long as you have high SAT, ACT, and SAT II scores, which you absolutely do, you are competitive. You GPA and testing profile are magnificent, as is your course load. I disagree with Wendeli above, and you do not need to retake the SAT. 2250 is amazing, and 34 is just as good. Congrats on your achievement. And as for the AP scores, 5’s and 4’s are fine. You do not have to share the 3, as AP scores are not required. It seems to me like you have challenged yourself well.

As for your ECs, they reflect your interest in science for sure. But at the same time, I think a lot of applicants will have the same stuff as you, and it will all boil down to how good your essays are.

I’m only in high school, so take my opinion with a grain of salt.

First of all, are you applying to the engineering school or the college? Second, I guess as a current student possibly majoring in CS, I guess I’ll say your chance isn’t so high. I’m really sorry to say it, but 2250 is very average unless you have a really great essay. No hooks by any chance?

I am not sure if I should apply to the college, maybe for better chances? I can submit my 34 ACT score instead, if it seems better. I have no hooks @moliss . Thanks!

Isnt the different between a 2250 and a 2300 simply 2 questions? Would an Ivy League School really place that much value on 50 points?

The engineering acceptance rate is slightly higher but the “score pool” is more competitive. I won’t say you have no chance, but with 30k+ applicants sometimes it comes down to small things like this.

Hmm, depending on your score breakdown on both exams that may be a good idea, but consult others. Your other stats are rather superb, but you are from my hometown it seems and the competition can be tough. I wish you the best of luck.
