Please tell me how my EC activities look.

As put in directly into the commonapp:

Multivariable Calculus - Grade 12 - One hour a week for 20 weeks a year

Writing Short Stories and Poetry - Grade 11 and 12 - One hour a week for 25
weeks a year

Playing Drums - Grade 11 and 12 - Five hours a week for 40 weeks a year

Tutoring Students in Writing - Grade 12 - One hour a week for 30 weeks a
year - Student Aide at Writing Center

French Club - Grade 10, 11 and 12 - One hour a week for 10 weeks a year - Vice-President

Volunteering at Hospital - Grade 9 and 10 - Five hours a week for 10 weeks a year - Hospital Aide

Chemistry and Physics Club - Grade 12 - One hour a week for 10 weeks a year

It looks good, but I wouldn't put that Multivariable Calculus as an EC activity... It seems odd. Same with Short Stories and Poetry... These are more like your hobbies or extra studies. Do you have anything that you are emotionally attached to from the other ECs or any leadership positions that you held?

I was thinking kind of similar thoughts, but:

Please list your principal extracurricular, community, and family activities and hobbies

hobbies is what got me. Those are my two passionate hobbies. I write about the writing for my essay, and I talk about the calc for my short-answer. It's all kind of connected. :]

and the heading is extracurricular, personal, and volunteer activities, so I would definitely classify those as my two major personal activities.

There isn't much leadership. Not much dedication, either. There is a nice selection, though, and you are modest with your hours. It really depends on where you're going to apply, I guess. I'm applying for Harvard EA, and so I expect national recognition and presidency of five clubs or something silly like that.

But really, that's a good amount of stuff. One thing, though: Multivariable Calculus isn't an extracurricular activity, really. Is it an independent study? Or a college course? There are other places you could try to mention something like that, but it doesn't really fit into ECs (I got my math teacher to mention my independent calculus studies in her rec).

Also, there are no sports, which is too bad. At least one always seems to look good.

the modesty with the hours... bleh, I am too honest sometimes. thus I sometimes give myself less hours than I deserve. Also, I am a black belt in karate, but I earned that back in 5th grade and have since stopped practicing. :/

I hoped the drumming would show some kind of dedication though.
I have started working out routinely at a gym this year/last year... should I mention that? routinely being several hours a week.
