Uh oh… I’d advise against doing an alternative college if you’re applying to AAP. If what I’ve heard is correct, they almost always reject applicants who use the alternative option, (at least in the architecture department) even if the AAP was their primary choice.

I don’t know about the other majors(art/urban planning) though. they probably function differently. But yeah, if you’re applying to AAP for art/architecture, you need a portfolio.

Your Math1 is fine. You shouldn’t try to raise your SATs up if they’re over 700, because that already falls into a decent range for the Ivy League. The adcom won’t stress about that, because your test scores, overall, are already excellent. In conclusion, you should definitely give Cornell a shot.

because the majors in AAP are so specialized (and because all 3 programs are limited enrollment), they want to see that you are 100% serious about AAP, and thats why they discourage applicants from applying to an alternate college. just because you get the opportunity to apply to another college doesnt mean you have to take them up on that offer. as long as you have a STRONG portfolio (dont wait until last minute to do it!) and great essays, you should stand a good chance for AAP. good luck!
