Thanks.

School doesnt offer APs or IBs but University Prep Courses and what not, Ive taken all UNI prep courses, planning on studyin economics-politics

"SAT II: 570 Lit., 58o USH, 590 WH -- I Know they SUCKKKKKKKK REALL BAD"

I think you meant to say "I Know they SUCKKKKKKKK REALL*Y* BAD."

:)

just kidding. But seriously, I hate chance threads. No one on CC can really say what are your chances.

I guess That's true, but I mean come on SAT II's in the 500's thats dispicable lol.

Do you think they'll care that I did not take a course in the subjects?

AHHHHHHHH lol

Anyone Else, I really need ur advice.

No chance IMO. Nothing unique.

....Yea your SAT IIs are really really low. =S How come you didn't take SAT IIs in courses that you did take?

And it's harder for internationals to get into top colleges as well. But apart from SAT IIs, I'd say your an average applicant to Harvard. Your URM status will help you though.

I think you have as much of a chance as anyone else--I mean, you have URM status and strong recs going for you.

However, I would try retaking the SAT IIs in January...take tests in subjects you've already taken (like math or literature or science) and study for them over the next few weeks. You'll probably do way better!

Thanks for the encouraging advice VFrizz

Any other suggestions/advice?

Well, I'm in a somewhat similar situation as you with the lack of time to study for these things and still juggle ECs, as are a lot of people

But your recommendations seem amazing, and so do your diverse ECs.

Which school do you go to by the way? I seem to think that 'sauga is relatively new in this case. Harvard is a lot more flexible than some other schools, so your chance should be all right.

Hey maximaro..tell me about it..in Canada, the SAT is unheard of cause we dont need it for our uni's, its just grade 12 marks basically..

yeha juggling EC's with school with work with SAT is a hassle..
I go to Rick Hansen, fairly new school, but yeah..Sat II's are very low but w.e my essays and stuff were good so we'll c what happens!

Lol 480 Lit here..... O ya. Proctor wouldnt allow for a bathroom break after the second test. What a pain. If ur grades cover that up, maybe they'll think it was a bad day. Like the only reason im not retaking is cuz i have high grades in AP classes, and have high scores on the AP lit tests

Yeah, I've heard of people coming from Rick Hansen (i.e. from ICDC at DECA), and things like that. Which programs are you looking at for both States and Canada?

But to be fair, it depends on the school you're going to, which determines whether or not the SAT is popular. Looking at UTS for example, a lot of those kids have taken the SAT whereas some public schools, not even the guidance counsellors would know what to do. (referring to Ontario schools)

Kevinscool, I don't mean to be an ass, but let me rephrase if I may: You're really good at Lit, but somehow got a 480 instead of, let's say, a 700, because you had to go to the bathroom? Furthermore, you believe that it's a waste of time to spend a single Saturday morning retaking because it will be obvious to admissions officers that despite said 480 you took and didn't decide to retake (they can see when you did it, and therefore whether you had time to retake), you actually can read because you did well on your AP.

Question: Why not take that Saturday morning otherwise spent watching cartoons, sign up to retake the SAT Lit test, go to the bathroom beforehand, and prove that you can indeed top at least the big 500 mark? Because if I'm a Harvard admissions officer reading your application and I see a 480 that you could've retaken and didn't, I'm giving you the big red stamp for laziness if not for the score itself.

Sorry, but I guess I've read one too many people make excuses for ****ty test scores for the lamest of reasons. Learn to focus with a full bladder.

Yeha maybeout of 600 grduating gr 12 students 4 -8 are taking SATs..subject tests are unheard of here. Im looking at Economics-Political Science for Undergrad and then MBA/JD afterwards but yeah..what bout you? what school do you go to?

lol my sat II's sucked too..not even over the 600 mark..should have taken em courses

I go to Woburn Collegiate. It's on the east side of Scarborough. You applying to any CDN schools?

Yeah i'm applying to CDN schools of course, cause no one is guaranteed admission to Ivies, or so they say anyways

But yeah I'm Applying to University of Toronto, McGill, Queen's, Ottawa.
lol once u do the common app with the essays/recs/work/short answer/supplement and all that stuff applying to CDN uni's through OUAC can be done with ur eyes closed
