Chance Me Please I Really Need It:(

hey I would really appreciate it if you would chance me:

Multiracial male from Mississauga, Ontario (West of Toronto)
I think in our entire school history, have only sent 1 kid to ivy (brown) in like 99 or sumthing

SAT I: 700 Math, 730 CR, 760 Writing
SAT II: 570 Lit., 58o USH, 590 WH -- I Know they SUCKKKKKKKK REALL BAD
but I took them in december, with only 3 weeks to study for em and no courses in those subjects either, I hope this doesnt break me:(

3.8 GPA/4.O
Tough Workload

Lots of EXTRA Curric: application is focused on DEPTH not breadth
1) Football - varisty runningback, awards, records etc.
2) Active in political community including relations with Members of Parliament, Senators and the Prime MInister himself

Prime Minister of High School, Model UN Leader, Debate Team, Mock Trial Lawyer, Community Band, Varsity football MVP, Rugby Starter, lots of community involvement

Travel Experience: Parliament Hill-Ottawa, Capitol Hill-Washington

EXCELLENT teacher recs
EXCELLENT Counselor Rec.
very good essays dealing with politics and my community, what I would do with a harvard education, How a broken leg relates to me using a college's resources to the max.

an URM, Public High School, No Legacy

Any Chances?Suggestions? It would help alot as anyone even applying to an Ivy School in my high school is unheard of so I really don't have much guidance in that department, would appreciate it alot.

Thanks.

School doesn't offer any APs or IB..But I have still taken all advanced courses and maintained a good gpa

I'm not familiar with the policy for Canadians, but I know that most internationals do not get URM status, so that might not help you. Nor does the fact that your school has only sent one person to an Ivy League School, much less Brown, almost ten years ago.

Yeah I guess that doesn't help.

do you really NEED your "chances" given to you? is it really going to affect whether you apply or not?

p.s. i'm being a hypocrite. but oh well.

no but i guess its a psychologial ease

"essays dealing with...what I would do with a harvard education"

not a good call...

but, seriously, standardized test scores are probably too low. ECs are good, but colleges like to see passion for two or three things, not a laundry list. How closely were you working with the PM? because that may be a real selling point.

but, on second thought, no one really likes Harper that much.

I would say probably not, but with outstanding essays/recs, you might make it.

no no, acadec, all internationals have to write what they would do with a harvard edu.

I think the SATs are way too low...

(SAT IIs, that is)

Unless you're being recruited.

I agree that the SAT II's are too low.

no one can no for sure. no one is a shoe-in at princeton, so you have just as good of a shot as anyone else. if your essays are tuly passionate, i think you have a shot. don't worry about it though, it's out for your hands now! best of luck!!!

Nor does the fact that your school has only sent one person to an Ivy League School, **much less Brown, almost ten years ago.

Brown's a top school...?

Your writing is not as good as one would expect from a 1430/1600 SAT I score. The word is "something", not "sumthing". Very rarely do I read something by a young adult applying to college that I find offensive, but the "sumthing" word used by you is not going to help your cause. Sorry, I do not want to offend you but it is my honest reaction to your post. Part of my reaction is due to conflicts in your post that prompt me to wonder if everything in your post is true. People who meet with high level government officials typically do not use language from the "hood"; they know better and show more respect for their readers.

I can't chance you, but your SAT II scores will haunt you like a shadow even though you're Canadian, because plenty of Canadian applicants do well despite having never learned most of the material on the tests by Jan 08 (which is a shame, but that's how our schools work).

If this post was in regards to your Princeton application, which, due to the forum location, I'm assuming it is... I'm not sure why you would write about a Harvard education. Princeton is not Harvard.

i was corrected on this earlier in the thread. apparently, every international applicant has to write about what they'd do with a harvard education.

Yes... international HARVARD applicants must write an essay about what they would do with their Harvard education. I was curious, so I looked at the Harvard website. So whoever corrected you was referring to Harvard, not Princeton.

with a score of 2190 u could be qualified for an ivy leauge..but im not sure bout princeton, since i've been hearing that u need a 2200+ atleast..nd SAT II r pretty low
