Scores are pretty important when it comes to PLME - it’s the way that you show the admissions people that you’re a competent student and able to take the rigors of the program.

It may be that I’m misunderstanding, but we’re not PLME admissions officers. This board is primarily prospective students, current students, and a few parents/alums. Certainly no PLME admissions officers.

With that said, scores are important. They’re not the only factor, but they certainly play a role.

To the OP: You’re right, I like everything you’ve said. Good Luck! I’ve just recently discovered the PLME, so I can’t help you much. I just wanted to say good luck, and if you don’t make it, it’ll be ok. Residency is what matters, and doctors can usually find jobs.

@eloudon123 - Thanx man! … I Appreciate it!

Hey…I am interested in becoming a med researcher, so should I still apply to PLME or just a Bio major?
I dont have any ECs on medical activities either but I have tons of ECs on environmental studies lol, will that help at all?
Thank you very much =]

To the OP: I think your ECs are qiute impressive and your sats are great, but I know completely nothing about the admission officers so I can only hope that you’ll get in, as an international student. =] Good Luck!

oh btw @chemwz: Excuse me for saying this but from my point of view you are the one that is immature here.Actually I am shocked by the fact that you counted how many “bumps” the OP has posted in that thread. Also, the OP can be a totally different person in the real world who is brilliant and mature and whose hobbies are bumping his/her threads on the internet so there is no need to take it seriously. Furthermore, I happen to think that it is a great thing to ask more people when you are dealing with something that you are not sure, at least that’s what Confucius said.

Thanx! … …
IMO u should apply to the PLME if ur sure about Medicine … They have a lot of research opportunities too … I’m Not sure if you can do an MD/PhD in the PLME check that out because thats what you would want to do right?

MD/PhD is possible within PLME. It just requires extra time.

Hi Bruno14

Did you participate a professional orchestra band when you were high school student?

My son is grade 11 student, would like to apply to PLME program. He is also good at music. He earned a diploma of piano one year ago (ARCT teaching and performing), he love music, still learn piano, but also a piano instucter in a local music school (not a formal college). We are debating if he is good enough to send a piece of supplmental music material (such as recording a CD of his playing, or composing a piece of music) for his music achievement in order to increase his chance to be accepted into PLME program. I think he has not reached a level being able to perform in a formal national level of musical hall. But he has been invited to play piano for a few fundraising events (if he had time, he would have participated a local band). Do you think if he submit a CD recording his playing, it will hurt or boost his chance?

to Parentfromcanada:
To post a question to Bruno14, or in general re this type of question, I would suggest you post it as a new thread, question. They may or may not see it as a continuation of a very old thread.
A brief answer, if the quality of the art of a student is quite good, it won’t hurt to send in a recording etc, and may help.
Is your son a US citizen? To my knowledge, and I’m not sure about Canada, Brown PLME rarely takes foreign students, and as you may know, the application for foreign students is not needs blind. They do say on the web site that foreign students may apply, but I think you would have to have a very strong application, and not be counting on much financial aid. (Brown regular undergrad does have many Canadian students.)

In general, it does help if you post separate questions such as this as their own topic.

If he’s an instructor locally and has been invited to do events, he should be plenty good to send in a tape. He should probably record two pieces in different styles on CD and send them to Brown with his application. There’s more info on how to do this on the Brown admissions page under “supplemental material.”

As for it helping him get into PLME, he’ll see. What the supplemental material really does is increase his chances of admission to Brown, as they have proof through the recording that he has been very involved in this extracurricular.

Following up on what BrownAlumParent said, PLME admission is very low for foreign students. I only know two or three international PLMEs in the entire undergrad population.
