PLME - Fields of interest in both the sciences and the liberal arts? and other essays

Since the Program in Liberal Medical Education espouses a broad-based liberal education, please describe your fields of interest in both the sciences and the liberal arts. Be specific about what courses and aspects of the program will be woven into a potential educational plan.

That is the topic. But, do we need to be really specific about exactly which courses, such as COLT 0610D, etc? Or, can I just mention a department and how I like the type of courses and what is being taught?

Also,

Please tell us more about your interest in Brown: Why does Brown appeal to you as a college option? Who or what has influenced your decision to apply? 1000 characters

Why are you drawn to the academic fields you indicated in the Anticipated Degree and Academic Interest questions above? 1000 characters

These are the two other topics. Do these need to be essays, or are they just one, two or three descriptive or factual paragraphs, unlike an essay, i.e no intro, conclusion, etc.?

Also, any tips for these essays from accepted PLME’s??

This is really bugging me as I have yet to write these essays, so I really appreciate everyone’s help.

For my science/liberal art PLME essay, I literally looked through Brown’s online course catalog and picked the ones that sounded interesting to me and highlighted a few in my essay while writing about how each would contribute to the medical context of my education, and at the end I really drove home how a humanitarian focus will make me a better doctor. My PLME essays didn’t get me in, but they did get me out of the rejection pool, and the only medical EC I have is my school’s medical society.

And for the two other essays, each of mine were about a paragraph.

Hmm, but the thing is, do they want our whole education planned out or only our freshman year?? I have some awesome course selections, but, I would find it quite weired if they need us to outline our entire college course plans… not that I could…but I would have definitely tried just 4 brown :)

I saw some of your other posts, and found out you were deferred from PLME. So I know your advice is worth it. Thanks for helpin out :)

Although I didn’t apply for PLME, you’ll quickly discover that 1000 characters is way too short to write an actual essay, so focus on saying what you want to say within the space limits.

OK, 1000 char = short, focused, driven paragraph
I initially thought I had to write 5 essays, so that’s a relief >.>b

study, that’s a good question. I didn’t address a timeline in my essay. I don’t think I would though, had I thought about it. You can do what you want, though!
thanks. Good luck!
