PLME-which subject tests?

I’m applying to the PLME program and want to know whcih subject tests to take. Bio isn’t an option because I haven’t taken a bio class in 3 years. Chem I took 2 years ago, but it was only honors, not AP. Physics I took last year, so I’d probably do the best on that, but it seems less relevant than chem. What would you guys suggest?

Oh, and I’ve already got an 800 on MathII and a 770 US history, but those don’t seem as important as the sciences.

Math II is important I'm sure, and then I'd say probably either Bio or Chem... I took the chem after AP, didn't study one bit and got a 700... only got a 3 on the AP exam as well... didn't study for that either. It's really not that that hard... but with only PreAP chem you might be overwhelmed...

yeah, that's what I feared. What If I really study and use prep-books?

well on the website, it recommends that one of the ones you take is a science....

i got a 790 in us history and a 650 in chem (which i'm retaking), i got a 3 on the ap chem test (almost the whole class failed) so i'm going to basically reteach it to myself. If physics is your strongest science, then take it, they don't say it HAS to be chem or bio.

"Applicants are required to submit results of the SAT Reasoning Test and any two SAT Subject Tests. PLME candidates are advised to include a science test as one of the two required SAT Subject Tests."

Brown Program in Liberal Medical Education

Back then, all SATII scores (Bio, Math IIC, Chem, USHist) got reported right along with the SAT scores so I'm not sure which ones Brown used. My son took Math II, Bio, Chem and USHist. Like ZFanatic, he didn't really "study" for the SATIIs, but took them the same week as the corresponding AP exam (in May). His HS AP classes are pretty tough and he got mostly 5s on the APs and 760-800 on his SATIIs. The kids gripe about the tough teachers but in the end, those who did the work found they were ready for the tests.

I would encourage physics since you took it most recently. But then again, choose the one you're strongest in. I know for me, between bio and chem (physics I'm taking this year), I definitely felt stronger in chem. Got a 5 and an 800 as a result ;P

yeah, physics is my strongest. I just fear I may look more like an engineer than a doctor, and they may question whether I have the aptitude to actually do the work.

some of the med schools I've checked out require physics as a prereq, so I don't see why not. It can't hurt.

yeah, I'm going to take Chem and physics and if I think I bombed them I'll just cancel my scores.

I'd recommend math and a science, and maybe lit or another language or humanities. If you're only gonna take two then probably math and science, since they'll see writing skills in essays

two sciences is overkill, they want people that can do it all

If taking subject tests (since one must be a science) is a conflict, submit your ACT score ..

I haven't taken the ACT, and I'm not familiar with it.

ZFanatic- I already have an 800 on Math II and a 770 US History, so I'm set aside from science.

SATIIs are never as important as most people think, no matter what you're applying for.

Take a science you're good at, do as well as you can, apply.
