I give my supplemental essays a “C” grade.

So, any comments or thoughts on my chances??? Thank you.

If you are not admitted to Notre Dame, it would be, in my opinion, only due to concern that your first choice lies elsewhere.

Your stats are competitive. The biggest negative seems to be the supplemental essays (unless you are grading your effort too harshly).

thank you for the responses. ND is the first choice for attendance on the list. UNC an excellent fallback option at this time, but not the same caliber school as the Irish IMHO. Will hear from BC and another high rated private school in March as well. One concern I have is being waitlisted at ND and the uncertainty behind that situation. In previous years, some students with better numbers than mine from our HS have been waitlisted and were not notified for admission till almost May 1st. I applied RD because our Admissions Rep for NC told me to do so, based on my numbers. And of course I am anxious and wonder if I should have just gone and done REA. If you have some thoughts, pls post them.

I would have done REA (restricted early action) simply because it is, and was, your first choice school.

Morehead-Cain is typically an honor that does not get turned down once offered.

BC should accept you.

Like to know the other school.

Hopefully, your Notre Dame essays conveyed your enthusiasm.

ND is highly selective in the REA round. If your regional admissions rep recommended RD, then I think that was the way to go.

I think you’ve got a decent shot. I guess my concern would also be whether your supplemental essays really would get you a “C” grade.

Don’t second guess yourself. You were wise to follow the advice of the admissions rep. for your state. I don’t think there is a big advantage to REA except that you get an earlier answer. Just try to keep busy with other things until you hear back. If you are in at UNC you have a great option so think of anything else as a bonus.

Correct, but what OP wants is an early answer. She doesn’t want to get waitlisted & wait until May 1. Better to have known by now than to be kept hostage until May.

To that I will say I have known people who applied EA, were deferred, then waitlisted. One that I know of was eventually admitted from the waitlist, but I agree that that would be a less than desirable timeline. One question to the OP - what is your unweighted GPA? Also, if you weren’t being hard on yourself and your supplements really were average, then it will be an uphill battle.
