Hi! I am wondering if anyone has any information on how long it takes to hear from Point Park auditions. My DD auditioned for the jazz program on November 2 we haven’t heard anything yet…we are sooo anxious ?
My daughter also auditioned in Chicago for Point Park. From the Q&A, I feel we should hear something by the end of this week. Waiting is hard! Best wishes for your dancer
Thank you! That is the way I understood it as well. I am just beyond anxious so I was starting a thread to follow when other Dancer’s decision emails start coming in. I was really impressed with Point Park staff and what they had to say, sounds like an excellent program! Thanks for responding and good luck to your dancer as well!!
For sure! Good idea. My daughter was intrigued and is super hopeful. What other auditions do you have on the horizon?
My daughter is also auditioning at University of the Arts and Oklahoma City University, she loves jazz and broadway so it’s hard to find a lot of dance programs that have the focus she is wanting. We have some backup schools on the list if she doesn’t make it into one of her top choices. Where else will your daughter be auditioning?
After hearing her school choices, I think you and I chatted during audition that evening. My daughter was the redhead. Here is what we have left: UTAustin, VCU, UNCSA, Boston Conservatory, and SUNY Purchase.
I remember you!! I am glad we connected again:) It’s nice to have someone familiar to talk to and stress with… If you’re stressed? as the time is getting closer, the 2 week mark, I am becoming more stressed, my daughter is too, I think she’s checking her email about every couple hours now? Remind me what part of the country your from, was it Texas?
@czgator not to hijack this thread, but will you be at the November VCU audition? My dd and I will be there.
Yes @threegirlpileup we will be. You?
@Elj1973 we live in San Antonio. This dance world feels so small at times. It’s fun staying in touch with people all over the country. You never know when they will pop into your life again. Not sure if we are stressed or curious or a mixture of both. That’s how I ended up finding this site and your thread ?
It is so small!
@czgator yes, we will be there! I need to start a VCU thread.
We will be at the February VCU audition, so I’ll look forward to the updates from those that go ahead!
@Elj1973 my daughter just received artistic acceptance email from Point Park a few moments ago. Hoping there is good news at your house as well.
No:( She didn’t make it, so goes life, on to the next audition! Congratulations to your daughter!!
If you don’t mind me asking, specifically what concentration did your daughter audition for?
Thank you! Modern concentration. You’re daughter will find her perfect match of that I am sure
My daughter is currently a sophomore and modern dance concentration at PPU - she loves the program and Pittsburgh. If anyone has any questions lmk I can ask her. Good luck to all I remember the stress of this time period like it was yesterday…
MY DD is auditioning for PPU tomorrow in Georgia (Concentration Ballet). What have you heard about the Ballet program?
@twinzmom8 PPU definitely has great ballet dancers there - likely they came in that way though as it is definitely a triple track program even if your D does a ballet concentration. So it is not a ballet focused program if that is what your D is looking for. If not, then the school definitely has a great reputation and many who are there truly love it! I do know that Mathew Powell (ballet) is no longer there and they recently lost another instructor. If you haven’t visited the campus, definitely make it a point to go - we lived in Pittsburgh for about 18 months (military and it is a beautiful city with amazingly friendly people. The campus is definitely urban which is a plus for some (or not for others). If your D is a multi-genre dancer the MillenniumPGH is right there as well with many amazing opportunities. Is the audition at Atlanta Ballet? We used to live there and know a couple of dancers who may be auditioning there as well. Merde to your dancer!
Thank you. My daughter is trained in all genres: Ballet, Contemporary, Jazz, Modern, Tap & Hip Hop, but her favorite style is Ballet. I think PPU would be a good fit for her. This year the auditions are at Pebble Brook High School in Mableton, GA. Praying that all goes well tomorrow.
