Point Park

I hear ya amy oconnell, hang in...

We just talked to PPU today and they allowed us to change our interview to the 21st. But that was the only option, so we took it. My D has an audition at U of Mich on Friday, then we will drive to Pittsburgh either Friday evening or Saturday morning for the scholarship interview.

Hey I was wondering if anyone can give me some advice. I just convinced my parents to let me apply out of state (I live in Florida and hate it here) So since its so late I'm not completely going to be compared but anyway thats another story. I really always loved point park and I want with such a passion to be a MT major. Problem is I can't dance. Since I can't dance, and I won't be able to attend the live auditions and have to send a videotaped auditions which requires a 2 minute dance solo which would probably consist of me making a fool of myself (lol which I don't mind but ya know...)is it better to apply for just acting and if I get in (and granted if i get enough scholarship money to attend) then audition for MT after the first year? or so...

Thank you to anyone who answers in advance!!!!!

I got my acceptace to the MT program a couple weeks after my audition! Thankfully, I got huge academic/leadership/talent scholarships. Now I just have my other nine auditions yet to do!

Way to go Corey!

Was at PP NYC audition today (d auditioning for summer dance program). Were any other CCers there for either dance or theater?

Hello, I just went to the open house at PPU yesterday.. and I'm in love with the school. I was already accepted academically, but I would love to become a MT major for the fall 2006 semester. How much dancing experience is required for the auditions? I haven't had much formal dance traning at all.

michaelsmom...if you dont mind me asking..how much money did your son receive for the talent scholarship..if you want you can PM it to me...i am wondering because my academics arent good enough to earn me any scholarships by that rout..so i was wondering how "generous" they are lol :) thanks

does anyone know if its too late to audition in april for Point Park?

Here is a link to their audition info. They have an on campus audition an Apr 7...don't know if it's filled up already:

http://www.pointpark.edu/default.aspx?id=391

Yea I had seen that...I should have phrased my question better: are most of the slots already gone by april or late march?

sorry, I have no clue. I believe you are supposed to mail your request, a month before your requested date. Call them to find out.

Forman98,
The dance portion of the PPU audition is for placement purposes only, they say at the audition that it has little to no impact on your acceptance (i.e. if you're an incredibly talented dancer it can't hurt your chances of acceptance but if you're not a great dancer and they like your voice/acting abilities, they won't reject you based on your lack of dance ability.)

My D was awarded a bigger academic scholarship for academics today, out of the blue! She will have very little to pay back when/if she attends...WOW! :) PPU drives a very hard bargain if you are talented AND smart and they appreciate having you as a potential student. Yay for Mel.

That is wonderful news!

Melsmom....that's terrific! Congrats to your daughter!

Thank you. I wondered if it would sound like bragging and almost didn't post, but what the hey, thought I would try to balance some of the bad with some of the good! Had to IM my D about it as she is enjoying her break from school somewhere tropical...Oh I wish I were so lucky. Good luck to your Ds hope I see some good news posted about them soon. (Except for Kaysmom's Jr D, we'll have to wait a little longer for that, right?)

Congratulations melsmom....that's awesome!

Congratulations to your D...awesome accomplishment and news! Keep it coming....we are rooting for these kids. This is the place to bring it on!

Congrats to everyone! I just got more money from PPU too. I think it's because after doing the FAFSA, the gov't definitely will NOT give us money. oh well...

WHO else has gotten in for Musical Theatre @ PPU?! I have and would love to talk to some ppl. :)

I auditioned in December, didn't get to see any musicals b/c I missed Hair. (Heard it was great.) Has anyone seen their shows? I went to the ballet Cinderella and then saw Miss Saigon at Pittsburgh Musical Theatre when I can back for the Prez Scholarship Competition in Jan 06. (It had some ppl from COPA, & COPA grads in it.)

CONGRATS again every1!
