Ah Battle Frontier. I got gold symbols on all except the battle palace. Palace was a pain in the rear end with all that personality crap…

It took way too long to beat Lance in Gold, but I beat Red on my first match.

Anyone play competitively with like EVs and natures?

I EV train, but I don’t pay attention to nature or make sure the moves are the same as those on Smogon.

(I got to ask some of you which pokemon you use in the Battle Frontier when I get there in Soul Silver, which I finally bought about a week ago)

I used to play competitively back in Gen III, but the horrible gen IV games made me lose all taste in that.

Is it because IV generation re-categorized the attacks according to physical and special?

The pokemon… gen IV pokemon got so bad and unoriginal that I lost taste in pokemon in all gen IV stuff. Even gen III (Hoenn) pokemon were kind of getting close to the line, gen IV crossed it.

I liked that change. (seriously, whoever it was that made ghost physical and dark special should’ve been shot)

The new Pokemon are lame; the new battle mechanics are not.

3 on 3 Battles for Black and White. That’s about the limit they should go.

^Agree. In my opinion, the 3 on 3 isn’t as awesome as 2 on 2.

I don’t even really like the 2 on 2’s, to tell the truth.

Agree with christiansoldier.

The game mechanics are so much more in depth in the 4th game. The new pokemon are not very creative though.

Like, I would honestly be happier if they went back and just retooled the Pokemon that nobody uses. I would much rather use a Rhydon with Solid Rock and Rhyperior’s stats than turdy-looking block man Rhyperior. And Infernape IS EXACTLY LIKE BLAZIKEN! Why? The only pokemon I even like from 4th gen is Buizel.

Oh my gosh. I didn’t know that Pokemon was this popular among high school students…
Sure, I loved it when I was in 4th-6th grade, but I dropped it after then. My fav was…probably Blastoise.
My ex-boyfriend could talk about this stuff for hours, though.

you could just use bronzong or duskinor

The steady decline in the quality of pokemon ruined the game for me.

No! Bronzong and Dustnoir are lame too!

The steady increase in game mechanics made the game for me…

Who cares what the pokemon look like? The important thing is just the strategy involved. Do you know how high Duskinor’s base Def and Sp Def stats are they are BOTH 135? Its a great wall because of that and its ability to use hypnosis, will o wisp, and confuse ray.

If I wanted a great strategy game, I’d go play chess or civ. I played pokemon for…well, the pokemon.

Good point. Civ = AWESOME GAME!
