Pokemon!

Dusknoir is another example of lack of originality in Gen IV.
It is an evolution of Dusclops, which is an awesome tank/trapper/anti-tank (in gen III, anyway) on its own right, but the improvement from dusclops to dusknoir is rather lame.
Putting all three of those moves would be bad idea when you use it as a tank. Curse, a physical attack move, WoW/Toxic or something in that nature, and rest/chesto going by gen III mechanics could be a somewhat useful moveset for it (certainly not the best).

4th Generation decreased the quality of the competitive metagame? Are you kidding me?Advance was all stall, and there was little creativity in the teams. For example, a properly set up Curselax could run the town on most teams. The 4th generation overhauled the metagame and made it much more interesting. Gameplay is heavily offensive now, and all the new possibilities resulted in increased creativity from team builders.

That being said, I don’t do competitive much anymore. I focus on the Battle Tower (I have a 268 streak to my name, 9th highest on Smogon :D) and other aspects of the Battle Frontier.

I never said it decreased quality of competitive battling, I said it decreased the quality of pokemon. I praised the overhaul of battling structure, but like I said, there is a huge lack of originality in the pokemon themselves in Gen IV. Even Gen III was pushing it.

That said, I haven’t done any competitive battling since Emerald came out. I don’t even play pokemon much anymore besides trying to complete the national pokedex on my firered/emerald.

Eh, to each his own. This first generation had it’s fair share of unoriginality in design (Voltorb, Electrode, Seel, Diglett, and Magnemite come to mind). I quite enjoy the newer designs.

Battle Frontier on Platinum hates me.

Eh, it could be worse. I own the Battle Tower, and the Battle Hall is a cinch. The only troubling aspect of the Frontier is the Battle Fagtory.

That’s true. Battle Tower I dominate. It’s just too easy.

A Pokemon (actually two: one small and one big) that looks like a pokeball. Isn’t it obvious that the creator started running out of ideas when he was doing First Generation?

I think just the voltorb was brilliant for the purpose of the anime (people confusing it with pokeballs). In fact, one could argue that for in game too for a small portion. I do have to say using two pokemon like that was an overkill.

But lack of originality really starts to show in Gen III, then seriously shows in Gen IV.

Have you cracked 100 in the Tower, MIThopeful16?

I think my longest was about 159-165.

I stayed up all night the day before HG-SS came out with my friends, lol. Went and got it the nxt morning. I have 100 hrs atm…been playing a lot less recently; I got the first 80 in like 3 weeks lol. In my Platinum I had 140ish hrs and my game decided to break in such a way tht the DS doesn’t recognize it… >.>
black-white ftw <3
