I’m most interested in Political Science and Economics, and am wondering whether it would be better for me to Double Major or Major/ Minor. I should note, I plan to compete athletically, which will limit my time. Also, my ideal post-graduation career would be in politics, with the economics courses serving to bolster my resume and obviously increase my economic knowledge, although it’s possible if I end up enjoying Economics more I might focus on a job in that sector. What should I do?
I should also ask, are Political Science and Economics a good combination? Would having one on my resume help my chances of getting a job or into a graduate program?
Political Science / Government and Economics are conventionally classified as social sciences (not humanities), just something of which you should be aware.
Regarding your question specifically, your orher threads indicate you are still searching for a college, so you will have lots of time to make a decision on majors. As a simple suggestion, choose a college that offers the opportunity to spend a semester in Washington. This experience would be as important as the combination of studies you choose.
With respect to researching a college strong in economics, these analyses can be useful: “Economics Departments at Liberal Arts Colleges” / “US Economics Departments” / (From IDEAS, available online).
