I registered for an Intro. To Political Science class but I am tempted into dropping it and taking something else like an Art class. My major is Biology and I am not really into politics and what not. Can anyone w/ experience provide me with some feedback? Like what is the rigor of the class: Hard or Easy to get an A? Does this class require discussions or is it more lecture based? Heavy reading? Any other advice will be grateful.

Btw, I dislike politics in general and find it boring, that's one of the reasons I am tempted in replacing it.

It would be impossible to say without knowing your particular university. Ratemyprofessors.com might be able to give you a general idea, or see if your prof. has posted a syllabus online. Also, know whether or not you need the class for your general education requirements.

Thanks for the advice, now for a small change to my original post.

Basically, this is for an elective. I have to choose between 2 classes now:

Political Science or Anthropology, anyone know which is more interesting? Apparently both the professors that teach it are interested and "easy As". Just want something to keep my attention. Thanks.

For me, I would find Poli Sci more interesting since it's more about how that aspect of society works. I found Anthropology very dull because it was like a history class, which I don't do too well with.

TAKE THE POLI SCI CLASS!! I may be a bit bias because I'm a political science major but I loved Intro to Poli Sci. I also took an Anthropology class and it was the worst thing that ever happened to me. I hated it.

On the other hand, my boyfriend (who is pre-med and a previous bio major) took one Anthropology class and loved it so much that he switched his major to Anthropology. So... I guess it all depends on what interests you?

^That's what I was thinking. I thought about dropping world history for it, but couldn't because all of the classes conflicted with a class with only 1 section. :(

Political science is required at a lot of schools. I'd probably take it just in case I decided to transfer. IMO, both are sort of history classes. Just pick which one has the better professor and sounds more appealing.

Obviously, difficulty and content will vary vastly depending on your school and specific teacher. Nobody can say whether it'll be easy or hard for you.

That said, intro poli sci classes usually involve a lot of reading.

you can probably find a syllabus for a previous year's class somewhere. you can also probably go on ratemyprofessors.com and see what they have to say.

As an IR major, I think political science is definitely a worthwhile class.

If its required take it. I came into school as a PoliSci major and took a World Politics class. I eventually changed my major to business, but that PoliSci class I took is by far the most interesting class I've taken so far, really made me think.
