Political Science Major

Whats the best way to select courses each semester/are there any traditional ways in compiling your course schedule? I'm a political science major and I am also wondering if i need to take math 16A and 16B, or any other math classes for any particular reason. If any political science majors remember their schedule of classes, could you post it please, that would be really helpful, thanks!

Secondly, I was wondering how courses taken at a CC while I was a HS student play into things. I understand that, like AP exams, they cant get you our of your breadth requirements or anything, so do they just go into your GE credits? And if they do go into GE, do the grades that i got in those courses get factored into my UC GPA?

thanks so much in advance to anyone with insight!

Also i was wondering, if a course such as political science 1 is a major-required course, can it also be used to satisfy the social and behavioral sciences breadth requirement?

thanks!

How to select classes?
Look at classes at [General Catalog - Courses & Curricula by Department](http://sis.berkeley.edu/gc/curricula.html)
Check which classes are available next semester at [Home Page - Online Schedule Of Classes](http://schedule.berkeley.edu/)
Make a schedule at [Ninja Courses](http://ninjacourses.com/)
Also check out the professors at ratemyprofessor.com and courserank.com/berkeley

You do not need to take math for poli sci (as far as I know, but I’m not a polisci major) unless you really want to… (I don’t recommend because 16 series is full of premeds and 1 series is full of engineers; they are weeder classes)
Community college classes can count for breadth requirements. Check assist.org for equivalency. (If it’s not there, you won’t be able to use it for breadth requirement)
CC classes do not count in your UC GPA. If you apply for certain grad schools, they do get included in your GPA.

what do we do to get our CC courses counted towards breadth requirements, send our transcripts or something? Also if there are classes we took that dont satisfy the breadth requirements as per the assist.org website, would those go towards GE credits or something?
