I’ve never ever worn makeup that covers my skin. Only eyeshadow/eyeliner/mascara/lip gloss maybe once a month when I have time in the morning and for special occasions. And people compliment me on my skin all the time, and think that I actually am wearing makeup since it looks so flawless (most of the time). So it is bad for your skin, but I guess if your skin’s already bad, you gotta hide it somehow (if you care and have time). If you skin’s already nice, don’t bother. Think about it this way - now, you wear makeup to look older. In 20 years, you’ll wish you never started because you’ll be caking makeup on to try to reverse the aging process.

Makeup can make you look old if its caked every single day. Minerals are slightly better , but its no “wholesome” substitute. Mascaras and eye liners are fine, but too much blush, concealers, foundations, toners etc. would be deadly to your skin. Make sure to wash off makeup after every use, and a daily facial wash won’t hurt either.
As for me, for the 18 years I walked this earth I think wore makeup about 7 times. Three of those were pageants, one was a wedding, and the other two are school plays. Even though I’m a girl, I refuse to wear makeup even mascara, eyeliner or lip gloss. I think I’m fine and dandy just the way I am.

Lol…i’ll be honest. I’m just OBSESSED ( yes, literally) with the way i look. Extremely self conscious about having to look my best. I constantly check myself in the mirror…even at school during passing time I’ll make sure everything is in tip top (haha) shape lmao.

edit: I feel like it’s getting to the point where the obsession is kinda getting unhealthy :(

^ There’s nothing wrong with that. A girl got to do, what a girl wants to do! :]

lol no. I like to pretend I just like to sleep in/have awesome self-confidence, but I probably would have no idea what the heck to do with a mascara wand, etc. :o

I’m lucky enough to have never had skin problems, so makeup wouldn’t really improve anything there, I guess. Bleh. I don’t know. Maybe when I’m older I’ll think about it, but for now, it just seems like such a hassle for a lazy bum like me.

shrug If you spend enough time to make your hair look nice, though, it lights your whole face up. I think the effects of makeup are minor, though, overall. Ah well.

^ haha, i would agree about the hair thing. but asians in general are really lucky b/c they typically have the best skin & hair (after indians hahaha).

lol…it takes me at least 1.5 hours to straighten my hair properly. B/c of it’s so thick and curly hahaha

I dont wear concealer though…thank goodness i dont have any dark circles :P

As for my eyebrows…that’s another thing i obesess over constantly making sure they’re perfect. LMAO.

Ah, the eyebrows! Yeah, they can really make your face look bright on a good day. Eh, what is the perfect eyebrow, then lol? :)

lol and I know a friend who spends two hours each night just hair-straightening. Even my aunt does it, and she already has straight hair. It’s weird. I’d always wondered what girls looked like without hair straighteners/curlers. And guys, for that case. :D

I’ll ignore the slight in favor of Indians.

I never wear makeup. I love being a guy.

^^haha, I straightened a few of my guy friends’ hair before… :)

I straighten my hair a lot…mostly because I don’t like the poofyness of it when not.

^ aspirin mask works! bless michelle phan! lol. wearing make up daily is fine as long as you wash it off well before bed =) and moisturize & tone after!

I love girls who don’t wear makeup (or very little makeup). I love the pure look on girls.

I don’t wear make-up. I don’t do anything artificial to myself (except for bathing with shampoo, conditioner, and soap lol). Yes, it’s very bad for your skin and ages you more than almost anything else.

Plus, I love being able to wake-up 10 minutes before class rather than a whole hour. I wore make-up one time when my now-fiance and I started going out. He hated it and we almost didn’t go out again because of it lol. He was like… I like you because of who you are, not because of what some company convinces you to put on your face.

Come to think of it, I’ve never met someone who looks better with make-up than they do without.

I only wear eye-make up and that too only eyeliner pencil on rare occasions (perhaps once a month?) when I go out. I very, very rarely (like 2-3 times in a year) put on lip stick and compact powder. I think make up ages a person in looks and in the long term ages their skin also.

Of course, for people in some professions, make up is essential but I think everyday for school is a little OTT.

Anyone know any remedies for reducing hairfall? My hair is thinning every day :(

I never wear makeup except lipblam for my lips and eyeliner occasionally.
I already wake up at 5 every morning, and I don’t plan on waking earlier.
Never died, straightened, curled my hair.

But I have bottles and bottles of shampoo, conditioner, lotion, scrub. ;)

ahem, lipbalm, sorry.

As a guy, I can tell when girl wears makeup or not. . . duh. But if a girls wears regularly and then stops, she tends to look sickly. lol its kinda funny.

If you don’t properly take care of your skin, properly remove the makeup nightly, cleanse and hydrate your skin, and use cheap makeup…then good luck with that.
That said, you really ought to have expected these typical “ew, makeup! that’s for t3h ewwie ppl” responses. Considering the site you’ve asked this question on and the general type of…people who access it. Of course, there are the very occasional exceptions to that rule.
A friend forwarded me this Michelle Phan parody awhile ago, I nearly died laughing:
