POLL: How many colleges will you apply to?

Applying to 13 (including my 1 safety and my 1 pretty-much-a-safety), but if accepted EA, probably 10.

I agree with anticatalyst. While I do think that 13 is too many (guilty as charged), I'd rather do too much work than not enough. The problem I have with applying to only a few "dream" schools is that among highly competitive schools, especially Ivy League, etc., admissions really are a crapshoot. If I apply to a whole bunch of schools, then I have a better chance of getting into at least a few. And I'm not just applying to random "prestigious" schools--I have definite reasons for applying to each of my 13 colleges.

14 applications

Gotta love the common-app!

Hey how do u create a poll thread?

Hollywoodiva, many schools waive the application fee for online apps. Some schools waive fees for certain students (they send a special invitation to apply & waive the fee). My daughter applied to 11 & only 2 had fees.

8 colleges; 3 privates and 5 UCs.

I agree with anticatalyst...I'd rather apply to too many schools than not enough. The 12 I'm applying to are all basically in the same 3 cities cuz I know that's def where I'd want to live for the next 4 years, but I want to compare all the financial aid offers from them..

I mean sure there's a strong chance I'll get into my 'match' schools, but what if they don't give me enough financial aid so i can actually attend? that's why i want to have options

I am applying to 10 or 11. There are just so many schools that I want to try. Otherwise, I will regret.

12 schools hereeee

11 common app, 1 online app (w/o essay), baby :) unfortunately the supp. will be keeping me on my toes for quite a while, but alas, that is life

2-3 safties, 4-5 matches, 3-4 reaches

10-15 colleges for me :)

Yeah Im gonna apply to around 18 or 20; it's a lot certainly, but the way I see it, you only apply for undergrad once, might as well apply away.

WOW. Just shock hahaah

17:):):):)

I'm scared now after reading this. 15+?!

I'm applying as an international transfer to about 10.

Hi everyone I've been looking at some universities' websites and the average cost for applying is like $60+ and if you apply to like ten that's more than $600 so how do you cover that or does it the cost work differently if you apply with common app. I've always wondered cuz my parents are like why would you spend $500 applying to so many colleges, but I'm not sure how it works so could someone help me calculate how much it would cost to apply to say 10 different univerisities.
thank you =-)

3 safety, 3 fit, 3 reach

6
1-2 safeties, 2-3 matches, 2 reaches

I'm applying to 15 to 17 colleges.

Why?

Because I'm not very picky, there are a lot of places that I genuinely like, and I want to have as many options as possible when choosing.

The breakdown is 4 Reaches, 3 Slight Reaches, 4 Matches, 2 Safe Matches, 2 Safeties.

Rich kids = apply to ten or more colleges.

Everyone post your familys income then how many colleges you are applying to. The would account for all the students applying to the many number of colleges.

8

2 reach
3 target
2 safety

hahahaha i cant do math

i meant 3 reach

i have a friend whose applying to 20, pretty crazy
