I wish I had your attitude, marie03. I don’t know how I’m going to handle going back for two semesters. I want to get the hell out of there!

lol same… I’m done with highschool… unfortunately I can’t be yet.

7 UBER reaches, 2 matches. all or nothing.

around 10.

1 safety.
1 match/reach.
8 reaches. haha

around 7-10

8 or so

5-6 reaches
2 matches
1 safety

If you’ve got a match or two that you like, and a safety that you like, I don’t see a reason not to allocate the rest of your time to trying for 5-6 highly selective institutions (so long as you could see yourself being happy at each of them).

Food for thought for those who can’t wait until 2nd semester:

Search for ‘rescind’ and see how many people couldn’t wait for 2nd semester, then spent the summer worrying if the two C’s, or one F, or one D and four B-'s, etc, etc will cost them their hard-won admission. Just something to think about.

2 Safeties
3 Matches
5 Reaches

i don’t know…i feel part of the reason why admit rates are so low is because soo many kids send out bajillions of apps…if we limited everyone to say, four, we would see admit rates hit a normal spot…

10-13, i think. If you apply to ten different schools all with 10% acceptance rates, that means you have a 100% chance of getting into one of them. Right? Haha

haha, whatever you say jackbenimble! i wish it worked that way!

Oh god…you’re right…27k =/

10-11. 2-3 safeties, 5 matches, 3 reaches.

Im not quite sure yet, but defiantly at least between 7-9. Maybe 10. But I don’t think that I would be applying to any more than that.

I’ve still got at least 18 months, but my guess is somewhere in the double digits, and I’ll have 1 safety, 1 match, and the rest reaches. I realize that shotgunning is often frowned upon, but one can only maximize your chances to a point, and after that it really is just a crapshoot, so simply applying to more schools increases one’s chances at a top school.

Also, I should add that I might have an unfair edge that will get me into a top school already, which is why I’m not very concerned about having safeties/matches.

10-12, unless I get in somewhere early, then it will be maybe 1-5

Oh, I’m not gonna slack off second semester, Grizzmom. I like being the valedictorian All I’m saying is that I can’t wait to leave the brick torture chamber that is my HS.

I’m pretty sure I will be applying to 6. This number may go up, but I highly doubt it. It will certainly not go down though.

3 Reaches
3 Matches / Safeties

Alas, I feel that students who allow their performance to decline THAT much deserve to have their acceptances rescinded. It is one thing to drop from A-/As to Bs in most classes; it is quite on another level to get below a C in one or more subjects.

Probably around 15, give or take 2. If you were to count the UCs as a single entity, that would be about 9 private colleges.

it’s looking like 12 right now—7 reaches and 5 matches / safeties.
