Pomona Class of 2017

I don’t think so, but I call them as soon as they open.

ALL admissions decisions, be they acceptances, rejections or waitlists, will be received via FedEx for international students. If you haven’t received a decision by Thursday, the 28th of March, you can find out over the phone.

Admissions office told me this over the phone.

Princeton2017 - I’m an international student and my decision was not mailed via FedEx and it was a rejection…

I have a friend in Maine, is she gonna get her rejection letter today?

“If you haven’t received a decision by Thursday, the 28th of March, you can find out over the phone.” → are you sure about this?? I have’t received anything yet, and nothing is available online!

@Pomani: if you have received decisions from all your colleges do mention that you are eligible for aid elsewhere. although it may not have any effect on your FA (don’t think they accept comparisons), atleast they might want to reconsider your FA app. If you’re in, you deserve to be able to attend!

@Keya - Haha, thank so much for your help. I’ll wait until I have all my decisions out and then see where I stand. I totally agree with you though, I’m sure we’ll work something out if need be. I guess it’s a good thing that they accepted me when I requested for far more aid than I received (none).

@britishstudent, But it was via mail, no? not email?

@Britishstudent

Then how did you hear?

Princeton2017, internationall - I got a tiny weeny thin envelope with ‘Air Mail’ stamped on it and dated the 22nd March. As soon as I saw it I knew it was a rejection - sure enough, inside was a generic rejection letter.

Internationals…the Fed Ex is for acceptances. Wait listing or rejections will be snail mail.

@POmani they said you weren’t eligible for a grant, that means financial aid. As far as what you need to pay, just figure 100%. We are in Switzerland and according to my sons’ guidance counselor, if you make more than 100,000 CHF you aren’t eligible for aid. So then you just need to do the exchange from francs to pounds…

um for those of you that have received your financial aid letters, are your awards that bad? i’m an ed admit but i still haven’t received my fa letter and all the posts here about people not getting enough aid is making me worried!

was there a huge discrepancy between the amount you got on the net price calculator and the actual amount they gave you?

I’m in Tennessee and still haven’t heard anything (the mail already came today with no letter, big or small). Anyone else in the South? Any idea why it’s taking so long?

Didn’t get anything today either and live about 7 hours from pomona. I’m sure we’ll all find out sometime this week, seeing that the office postmarked mail as early as the 22nd. Good luck all!!!

Yes, good luck, everyone!!!

Just an FYI: I got a rejection letter yesterday (very grateful I went into this knowing this would be the most likely outcome, and doubly grateful I’ve already been admitted to schools I love). I’m in FL (so almost as far away as possible) and submitted my application at the 11th hour. Make of that what you will…

Good luck to everyone that hasn’t heard yet! Pomona is fantastic and I wish you the best. :)

Accepted today!! I live in Texas by the way. Good luck everyone

^ Did you get it through regular usps mail?

If they’re so miserly with FA then I’m almost sure I’ve been rejected. Not to mention snail mail (@GvaMom) arrives much later than FedEx. Empty mailbox till now. Good luck to the rest of you !

If you’re not happy with your financial aid, I’ve definitely heard of a number of students appealing to the Financial Aid Office and successfully getting better aid (though the process of doing so can be tedious). Maybe there’s something the office did not consider or something that was not available for consideration that can be conveyed by phone.

For the waitlisted:
First, make sure you really want to come to Pomona if you are taken from the waitlist.

If you are, then reply yes to stay on the waitlist (or the corresponding action that tells Pomona that you’re in it for the long haul).

Express continued interest in Pomona, maybe by asking what about your application was not as great, an update on your current situation (did something important happen recently, including, but not limited to, awards, schoolwork or extracurriculars?) or just a general re-expression of interest.

(Basically, common sense things.)

Cross your fingers and hope for the best =)

For those who have gotten in, welcome! We hope you come with a positive contribution to the Sagehen community! (A cheery attitude will suffice, too!)

@keya93: Pomona practices need-blind admissions, which means they don’t take your financial need into account in admissions.

does anyone know how long letters will take to get to the Middle East?
