I think about 8% of applicants are waitlisted and only a few are accepted based on how many students decline their admission from RD. We should know in Early May if we get in.
My D was waitlisted as well.
@amendoim On the FAQ on their site it says about 8% of applicants are waitlisted. I’m not sure about how many will be accepted since it does depend on how many people accept their offer/accept the waitlist etc.

Accepted after a deferral!!! I am so so beyond happy right now
I got waitlisted as well. Congrats to all who got in!
Congrats to those who got in!
For those who were waitlisted, I found this thread saying that last year’s waitlist had more than 700 hundred students and only 16 were eventually accepted ( http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/pomona-college/2012023-class-of-2021-record-55-yield.html ). I am sorry to bring disappointing news! But these numbers vary every year, of course, so maybe this year will be better
I was just waitlisted. Congrats to everyone who was accepted!
Waitlisted! Congrats on those who were accepted!
rejected 1540 SAT, 4.38 GPA
Rejected :(. 34 ACT, 4.09 GPA
I GOT IN!!! CONGRATS TO EVERYONE!!!
Even if you weren’t accepted, you should be proud of yourself for working to make it this far and for remaining so positive and supportive throughout the nail-biting lead-up to decisions. Good luck to you all regardless of where you go!!!
Still can’t believe I was waitlisted. I thought I was a reject for sure. 30 ACT/1390 SAT, 3.98 UW. Congrats to those who got accepted! :)>-
Accepted! But with less financial aid than expected
My D18 got accepted. Financial package is ok. But she also got accepted to Williams with similar financial package. Still waiting to hear from few more. She is now in a dilemma, between Williams and Pomona. Williams campus is really amazing, of course when it’s not winter. They have few good things, 4-1-4 academic calendar. Between two 4 months semester, there is one month of either class or internship in USA or abroad or shadow an alumni to workplace or research. MIT has similar academic calendar. They have a tutorial program. Their library is the most beautiful I have seen among all the colleges we visited.
Pomona has gorgeous weather, be close to our home(SF bay area), association with four other colleges, campus is nice but not as beautiful as Williams.
Can anyone points to any other plus/minus between the two schools? Would appreciate it.
I just got accepted after being deferred… I am so incredibly happy. That was a rollercoaster, but I am finally there!!
Congratulations to all who got in!! For those who didn’t, know that it will be okay. It hurts like a mother, but once one door closes a window opens. I got denied from UCLA which I was really hoping for, and then miraculously I got in here. Crazy things happen (especially with college acceptance). I have been following this thread since the beginning of the year and I am so happy to know what a wonderful group of people you all are. Thank you for your endless support and let’s see what the next few years bring!!!
@xlhx33 Appeal! They’re very good about giving the aid that you need.
@sanjosedad Congrats to your D! 2 great choices, can’t go wrong with either. I think a visit/overnight stay will help clarify the differences between the two schools and the sort of students who go to either place. As pointed out above, if you think more aid is necessary, feel free to appeal at both Williams and Pomona.
