Pomona College RD 2015

Really CranberryOrange? It’s a white card that says: “The Weekend” at Pomona is a four-day program hosted by the Office of Admissions for admitted-students who are from underrepresented backgrounds, including low income, first generation college students, and students of color.

It just seems a bit strange they would give that invite to everyone…but it sounds like a great event so I hope I can attend!

Accepted

And, FrenchSilkPie, I am planning on attending The Weekend. I’m visiting Reed College, my other top-choice, this weekend, and it would be nice to compare Reed with Pomona, to see which one feels right for me.

Also got financial aid info, which was a nice surprise, although I still have to pay about 6000 dollars, which I suppose isn’t that bad for some people, but for me it means I need to start buckling down and legitimately filling out scholarship apps :P

Congrats to all those accepted!

No, this is different. Same weekends, but just the Mondays (11th and 18th) and they’re “Admissions Days at Pomona.”

Any international student heard from pomona?

Wait Listed.
Just as well, I don’t think it was a good fit for me, I really wanted something bigger.
Congratulations to all the accepted students!

Got rejection letters from Pomona, CMC, USC today…damn. Didn’t get into Wesleyan either. Probably not getting into college.

@ CranberryOrange: I also received the info about the “Admissions Days at Pomona”. There are 2 different programs available; everyone is invited to Admissions Days and only URMs/diverse folk are invited to an extended visit: “The Weekend”.

Oohh Josephina92, hopefully I will see you there!

I also got rejected at Pomona. Is it possible to appeal though? If so, how soon do I have to send information?

The average SAT score in the decision thread is really, really depressing.

So incredibly excited to be accepted to Pomona! I’m in AZ, and wasn’t expecting to hear so early! A very good surprise. I like the folder with the little "YES"s printed all over it :)

Ooh, I’m excited to experience “The Weekend at Pomona”.

International and still waiting… :frowning: SIGH.

Don’t worry someday, you’re not the only one =P I’m guessing it’ll arrive on Monday/Tuesday

@Mathematism

Ehh, my SAT score is much lower than most of the those who posted in decisions thread.
I got accepted with a 2240, which isn’t nearly as good as the 2350+'s you see rampant in that thread.
I’m also a non-athlete.

SAT score doesn’t mean you get accepted either; I had a 2360 and was waitlisted. I was a lot more emotional over it than I expected…I think that Pomona has become my ideal college. But you know, it’s been a day, I feel better about it: congrats to all those accepted! And to those who were rejected, another college is waiting for you and to those waitlisted like me…well, good luck. I’m probably going to have to give up my place on the waitlist since I couldn’t afford Pomona even if I got in.

BTW, I’m sure that holistically I didn’t measure up or something…not like I absolutely deserved a place at Pomona.

Do you think that not receiving a letter yesterday means rejection? I know that there were rejections as well as acceptances yesterday, but if they sent the acceptances with express mail, I would assume that they would all have come yesterday, along with a few rejections, and then the rest of the rejections would come Monday. I really hope this isn’t true because I’ve already been denied by CMC and Middlebury and it’s not looking too good for Duke.

I GOT IN! I got my big white envelope yesterday. I’m SO elated after having been deferred ED I. I feel so lucky and blessed.

Good luck to all of you!

Not at all. The US Postal Service is far from perfect, and I’ve had mail delayed by them more times than I can count, so don’t lose hope!

It looks like the acceptance rate is going to be under 14% this year though, so no one should feel bad about not getting in.

I was accepted with a 2160. I must really suck :P. Also got an early write from Swarthmore and Wesleyan. The SAT is overrated. Canned, do you really think a 2240 is low? That’s well above the mean for almost all schools.
