<p>Can you tell me about social life at the college and outside in nearby cities? </p>
<p>Pomona is a part of a consortium. All of the 5 colleges throw events which are open to students from the entire consortium.</p>
<p>From Monday to Thursday, the party scene is pretty muted due to the heavy emphasis students place on their academics. But there is a wide variety of seminars, guest speakers, music performances, workshops, games, and club events like movies and snack nights throughout the week. </p>
<p>Friday and Saturday is when the party culture opens up, and it tends to be pretty vibrant. There is usually one party happening at one of the colleges each weekend, usually multiple. Mudd (in one of the dorms), Pomona (in the SCC) , and CMC (in their courtyards) are where the parties are usually held. Alcohol tends to be a big part of these parties, and most people pregame before going to them. There are several “traditional” parties that are held every year, like Foam at HMC, Harwood Halloween at Pomona, and White Party at CMC.</p>
<p>Even if you’re not into partying, there is a lot else going on since there are over 8000 events listed each year from the 5 colleges.</p>
