Does anyone know when Pomona notifies ED candidates? On-line or by mail? We live on the East coast and wonder how close to December 15 to expect the answer. Thanks!

sorry to steal your thread but i'm also from the east coast and have the same question. Also, were you notified that your application was received? Do they send you an email on-line? I called Pomona and they said they were too busy to confirm- I had to send in my supplements by mail and commonapp online, so i wanted to make sure it all got there in one piece.

For the east coast, most people got their letters around the 16th or 17th... for some reason those of us in Northern Jersey didn't get ours for an extra week or so though.

As for the confirmation-- I believe that they sent/emailed something (I'm not positive because I had placed pre-addressed letters in my package to have them just send back to me when it was opened), however I remember them being VERY slow in doing so. Calling them every once in a while to find out may be a better option.

My daughter also emailed Common App and mailed supplement. Admissions staff confirmed receipt by phone. Too bad Pomona doesn't have online notification -- waiting past the 12/15 deadline for snail mail will be pretty tough!

Two years ago, D received her ED packet in the mail earlier than the deadline. It's a large white envelope.

Good luck!

Large white envelope....I'll be crossing my fingers for that, then. :)

talked to someone at the admissions office yesterday who said ED letters would be mailed (regular mail) on Friday 12/14. Hang in there!

wow that is going to be painful... this next week is going to be torture

I just called admissions, and they said letters would be sent today (12/13)!!! I wonder how long it will take to get to New York.

ahhh yeah same -- where in ny are you from ?

Did they say they were being sent regular first-class mail or priority?

i live in CT.... so i'll prob get it saturday or monday.... AHHHHHH

gettinready14- I live in Westchester, NY... you?

rockland haha. Nice. Do you go to private school or do you go to a nice school in scarsdale or something. I feel like there aren't a lot of public school kids applying from NY. You male or female. Haha sorry for the inquisition, it's just pretty interesting i didnt figure anybody from the area was applying except maybe some people in westchester or kids who went to prep schools

i go to public school, the public schools here are awesome tho. my school is super competitive, which i guess is good and bad- it's not in scarsdale, but not way too far from it. and im female :/ well that would be awesome if not many public school kids applied from ny! do you go to private or public school?

yeah-- i'm just speculating, since it's kind of hard to afford flying out and not too many people know about pomona in NY (or realize how good it is, they just look at US news world report and see #7 LAC). They also recruit at the private schools i think. I also go to public school, competitive as well. I'm pretty grateful- we have a really nice course offering; i'll have like 12 aps by graduation (14 if you count physics C as two and BC with AB subscore). How'd you end up hearing about it?

well i have some distant relatives in california, and i hate the cold haha so i decided to look at schools there... and when i looked at pomona i absolutely fell in love with it. but you're right, not many people from here will go to california, either for the cost of traveling or because their parents don't want them to go far. how did you find out about it?

LOL that's like the same reason i was looking at it, or at least part of it. I started narrowing my schools list down to schools in the south.... pomona, rice, duke, wustl, etc. with maybe a few top schools up here. I honestly want to be able to go outside and be able to play frisbee or soccer every day (not that i would though). Also, my sister went to CMC so she always talked about how amazing pomona was. She lives in Santa Monica now so i could hang out with her from time to time; it would be pretty convenient. I get so excited just thinking about it, the clear blue skies, laid back atmosphere, small classes, but then again i don't want to get my hopes up.

In past years acceptance letters were sent priority and deny/defer letters were sent regular mail. Good luck to everyone!

i know that's exactly how i feel. it's such an amazing school with a different atmosphere than any of the schools I have looked at. and i mean the view of the mountains, the beach, the 5 Cs, the flowering trees all over the campus, being able to be outside all year round- it's just the best place. are you applying to any of the other 5Cs?
