Pomona through Questbridge

I was just recently encouraged to apply to Pomona College through Questbridge, but I'm not sure about my chances. I haven't had the chance to take the ACT, which I'm confident I will score better on that the SAT, nor have I retaken my Math 2 which I bombed.
SAT: 1990
Writing - 630
Math - 690
Reading - 670
GPA (Unweighted): 3.92
Biology: 740
Math 2: 670
I have kept up a fairly rigorous schedule (despite my school offering no AP's until senior year) and I have a circumstance for my B's in sophomore year which dropped my GPA. I make around 65,000 a year in California, which I know it a bit too much. Do I really have a chance?

The bad news:

Your SAT is quite low for Pomona’s high standards. For the incoming class, the ranges were:
SAT CR: 690-760
SAT M: 690-780
SAT W: 690-780

So your scores put you at the bottom of the pool, which will hurt you. I highly encourage you to retake your scores.

Your M2 is quite low as well…I highly suggest retaking it as well.

The good news:

People with your stats and income level have been matched. Your GPA is quite good and if you are in the top 10% it will really help you.

Advice:

Retake your tests and work on writing fantastic essays. Pomona has lower test score criteria for Match than it does for RD/ED, so you can make up for your scores with great essays.

I am not sure whether you would become a finalist considering your high income. I definitely think you should apply to Pomona (maybe even through Early Decision) and should consider still applying to Questbridge.

Yeah you’re income it’s too high … I think you’re wasting your time on QuestBridge. Apply to Pomona Directly. only 7% of the finalist have an income higher than $60k and only 4% of the matches. Unless your mother/father got recently promoted you might want to consider applying directly to Pomona or your other college choices.

No, he’s fine. Pomona is one of the few QB schools that consider students over 0 EFC.

But if you only want to apply to Pomona, ED1 has a much higher acceptance rate than Match (25% vs 3.6%)

The first time I took the SAT, I got a 1990. I’m a freshman at Pomona, who didn’t rank Pomona but got in ED-2 through Questbridge. You can do it. Keep working on test scores, they’ll come.
