I am a straight A student, but my freshman year I struggled. I got a B in Phy Ed, and an A-, B+, B- and a C- in a General Technology course. Currently I am a Junior, and have brought my grades back up. Right now I have a 3.99 Cumulative GPA, and I am 6/90 for Class Rank. Will those poor grades greatly affect my chances to get into a good college?
Sounds like you’re on the right track. Good job on bringing the grades up. Some selective schools ignore the freshman grades, whereas others don’t.
It’s difficult to say whether a few bad grades will kill your chances or not. But I think that by showing how much you’ve improved it will ease the worry. Good luck.
Some colleges do not consider your Freshman grades in their GPA calculation: Stanford/California UC’s/California State Universities. Also schools will look at your upward grade trend which shows you were able to turn things around. Your chances will not be greatly affected by your Freshman year, but it will depend upon what your consider “good” colleges.
