In my first semester I had a disappointing 3.4 GPA, but for this semester it’s been atrocious. I will most likely finish around a 2.9, simply because of a lack of effort and the sheer number of incomplete assignments. Does this “doom my GPA for the rest of my high school career”, or is this something i can realistically recover from and finish with a 3.7-3.8 by the end of my junior year?

It depends on how hard you are willing to work to turn things around. Also there are many colleges that do not consider Freshman year grades in their GPA calculation, so yes you can recover if you recognize what you did wrong this year.
I mean i feel like i can stop being lazy, procrastinating, etc. I primarily just wanted to know if its possible. My school doesnt inflate grades or anything so idk if its realistic.
Yes it is possible, but you will need to get close to straight A’s the next 2 years with an increasing course rigor. Much will also depend upon what type of colleges you are targeting. An upward trend is always good.
Ok, thanks. :D/
:-t
Don’t fret about it too much. Look at Freshman year as an opportunity to get used to high school. If you can get all A’s from here on out, in challenging classes, you should be perfectly fine. Just work hard and stay focused.
I just have to find out how to explain it now lol. :-@
High schools isn’t everything. Neither is college. Their not going to determine your life. Take and advantage of them and your life will probably be better, but your not doomed if you didn’t get into a very good college or didn’t do good in high school.
