Poor Grades =(

Quarter just ended yesterday, and I am sitting with the worst grades....ever...
Last year I had all B's and C's, and No AP's, So I was thinking to greatly improve this year. But It didn't work out...

See for yourself -

AP WORLD HISTORY - B

AP ENVIRONMENTAL SCI- B+

INTENSIVE READING - A

ENGLISH II HON.- A

CHEMISTRY I HON. - A

AP PSYCHOLOGY- B

ALGEBRA 2 HONORS- C+

These mocking grades, probably leave me at ranked in the 20's, maybe 30's. People that have harder classes than me have Straight A's.

AP Environmental I have an 89, my teacher wont bump me up =(. What do you guys think? Do I have a shot at college? I am a Sophomore - Grade 10.

ExtraCurriculars this year-

Debate, Environmental Club, Hospital Volunteer.

ExtraCurriculars Last year-

Hospital Volunteer, Library Volunteer.

No awards =(, I dont think I can get any.

Your grades are much better than last year. Do not compare yourself to others, just try to get mostly A’s and a few B’s from now on. Your grades are better than last year so your doing well even with harder classes

You have A
s, you are taking APs, and think you won
t get into college? Are you freakin` kidding me? Seriously man, most people, unless you go to a REALLY competitive school, barely take any AP classes, if any. What colleges, pray tell, are you thinking about applying to?

First of all, you’re only a sophomore and it’s the first marking period. Second of all, you have mostly A’s and B’s which is a major improvement from last years B’s and C’s. Third of all, you’re taking a bunch of AP’s - you shouldn’t necessarily expect all A’s - at the rate you’re going you’re definitely getting into college!

CE527M, and Dzz- College Acceptance Rates are getting tougher and tougher as days go by. I am thinking to apply to local colleges such as - FAU and UM. With these poor grades and 0 awards, I dont think I will get in. I also have Int. Reading- a very low level class, which I have to take for being a point shy of a passing score on a standardized test. I hope my AP’s make up for it.

I know you guys are just being nice, But College is getting tough, I see people on this website, having like 20 extra curriculars, all ap’s, 100 awards. And Me compared to them?

Also, People in my school are taking tougher classes than me and have STRAIGHT A’s!

At the end of the day, you have to have confidence in yourself and what you’re doing. It doesn’t matter that other people on the website have all AP’s and tons of extracurriculars - you definitely won’t get into college if you think you can’t or don’t have the grades to.

You have to believe it to make it happen!

Okay … getting off my soapbox …

THIS WEBSITE is key here…this is CC, people here are planning on applying to Yale, Harvard, etc, not FAU and UM…I
m not being “just nice”…I
m being serious, those aren
t bad grades. The C could be higher, but other than that, those are not bad grades. Aside from that, it
s only the quarter, semester grades are what colleges look at. So you
ll be fine. Seriously buddy, quit stressing. I
m sure there are also people at your school-plenty of them- who take no AP`s and have a 2.3 GPA.

As a fellow Floridian, I know Florida schools. I don’t know you’re GPA, but you seem ok for FAU. You could get into UM, but, seriously, you have two more years of high school, plus this semester isn’t even over yet. Get those grades up so you won’t have to ask yourself “Will I get in?”.

I’m applying to UM, as well. Not FAU, though.

LOL I’m from Miami and its impossible to not get into FAU Lolll

Dw bro you will be fine, UM avg. gpa is 4.2 weighted btw you’re not far from it

If you’re from south Florida, I also volunteer at a hospital, you wouldn’t happen to volunteer at a memorial branch right? Because they do give awards for your resume

@Toby I know right! OP really shouldn’t be worried about getting into FAU.

Niqqui and Toby; since you guys are from florida, you would know. ; take a look at my schedule, I have Intensive Reading on there, which is from getting a 2 on the FCAT. Thats Why I am worried about not getting into a good college. A 2 on the FCAT, is hard to get into college, on my opinion.

I don’t go to public school but I used to for middle school and I remember the FCAT being so easy,

it’s weird that you are taking like 4 AP’S but you scored badly on the FCAT reading portion, eres latino? Is English not your first language?

Anyways, I’m not sure that you have to report your FCAT scores to colleges, I don’t go to public school so I wouldn’t know but ummm I’ve never heard about colleges getting to look at your FCAT

You should ask your counselor about that

I’d say you have a 99% of being admitted to FAU, as for UM it depends on your SAT scores tbh, I visited recently it’s so competitive, have you taken the PSAT yet? that’s a good indicator of where you stand…

If you did badly on the FCAT reading you might score badly on the SAT critical reading so if I were you I would start practicing

gl

I think the FCAT is on your transcript, although, this may vary from school to school. You can’t really retake FCAT, but you can show that the FCAT wasn’t a good representation of your reading skills by taking AP English next year (and doing well.)

Don’t fret about it. UM couldn’t care less about the FCAT.
