Poor Math Score: Retake SAT or Not?

I took the December 5th SAT and my scores came back today and I got a 2200, 760 CR, 690 M, and 750 W. Math turned out very poorly and I am not sure if I should retake the SAT in January or just leave it. I am looking to go into mechanical engineering and will also be taking the subject test for math.

Also, should I just forget about new SAT or take that too?

This was my first time taking the SAT and did no prep other than one practice test.

If it’s your first time, sure, retake it once more. Your score is great regardless.

Yeah it was my first score, but are there any downsides to taking it again?

@starnesb17 No, except for having to pay $54 to spend a Saturday morning testing of course. Just don’t take it too many times, and focus on getting that score up. Your score isn’t bad at all, and I can certainly tell you’re a smart person, so you should take another shot at the test.

If you’re looking for a good math book, I recommend PWN The SAT Math. It allowed me to raise my score up from a 670 to a 770 (could’ve been an 800 if it weren’t for one stupid mistake I made).
